Leaving from NYC - need travel ideas for late July trip with baby - want pool, upscale resort

We've been searching for a place to go with our 11 month old. We want a resort type place with a pool. It can be an upscale place - maybe with a spa would be great.

Shouldn't be too humid...In the past (before baby) we would take our vacations in may and oct, so we didn't have to worry about the weather as much and we had more options.

We've looked at

Aruba - (maybe save caribbean for early dec)
South Carolina (too humid)

We are considering Maine, but can't find a place with a pool and Cape Cod area (but it may be very crowded)

We've been to the Sagamore in Lake George and liked that but want to go somewhere new
Any ideas? thanks

By October, our humidity is gone in South Carolina. Still mid 80s daytime temps and the ocean temp is warm.

I highly suggest a condo with a baby. I also highly recommend Wild Dunes Resort. A big plus is that it is only 20 minutes from downtown historic Charleston.

thanks - that would be an option for October - I need a place for July and thought that it might be too humid at Wild Dunes. I checked out their site - it looks really nice, but just worried about the humidity.

Yes, skip South Carolina in July.

If you liked the Sagamore, you may want to look into the Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. It is a resort with a pool, however, it does not have a spa. It is located right on Crescent Beach, which is a nice southern Maine beach.

Cape Cod: Ocean Edge Resort (www.oceanedge.com), Chatham Bars Inn (www.chathambarsinn.com) or the Wequassett Inn Resort and Golf Club (www.wequassettinn.com). All are very upscale and on the water with pool and restaurants and spa services and have comprehensive websites. July is not as crowded as August.

Topnotch in Stowe Vermont? and Gomiki's suggestions are great.

Thanks - We were looking Chatham Bars Inn - I was quoted $400 a night. Could that be right ? I don't think it includes any meals. They say they have a very strict cancellation policy. Has anyone stayed there? Is it snooty?

We thought we would spend a few days (4) at Chatham and then drive to Bar Harbour. Is that crazy - too far with the baby? My husband doesn't have a problem driving long distances...

thanks
