LEAVE LUGGAGE IN NEW YORK
I will be travelling thru Maine after one week of shopping in New York. Is there any safe place in Manhattan where I can leave my luggage while I go to Maine?

Thanks.

How long will you be gone to Maine? It's probably best to start with your NY hotel. They may accomodate you if you'll be gone a day or two. Otherwise, you may want to UPS everything home.

Maine is very beautiful, I was there when I was a kid but I just want to make sure that you realize how much N.Y. State has to offer:

-Hudson River Valley

-Catskill Mountains

-Adirondack Mountains

-Finger Lakes

The list goes on. It seems to me like NY is very much underappreciated as a vacation destination. Go to http://www.iloveny.state.ny.us/

for more info.

Donna, I'll in Maine for two weeks. I rented an appartment in Manhattan, and the owner is not willing to keep my luggage there. As for UPS home, the duty fees in my country are 50%, so it's out of the question. I thought that I might find some storage company located somewhere in Manhattan not far from Penn Station.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Dear Decent,

That will be next year. Thanks anyway,

Marta

I don't know of any place, but here are two suggestions:
1. While in NY, stop at Penn Station or Port Authority Bus Terminal and ask at baggage check for suggestions.
2. I believe there's a Convention & Visitors Bureau place in Times Square. Perhaps they have some suggestions.

Marta: Well, we're in Nashua, NH, and if you'd like, we'd be happy to stash your stuff if you like...e-mail...

Thanks a lot. I will follow Howard's suggestions.
