I am looking for a cheap clean hotel close to the beach for me and my son. He is a special ed student no physical disabilites but I need a place that is safe and fairly close to the water. I would like to stay around 13 days and need a package with air fare. Any help would be appreciated.

I would check for packages through Pleasant Hawaiian holidays, and look at the ones with the Ohana Hotels. Some of them are close to the beach. Also, the Breakers and Hawaiiana are low rise hotels on Beachwalk can be reasonable.

Try the ResortQuest Pacific Monarch. It's only a few blocks away from the beach and the rooms have a small refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc. You could save a bit putting a few of your own meals together at the hotel. This hotel is also right on the bus line and far from all the construction going on right now along Kalakaua.

I stayed once at the Aston Waikiki Circle. Don't know if it's still called this but I know it's still there.
Anyway, it was surprisingly cheap, is beachfront (though there are rooms that do not face the beach and thus are cheaper)and s right in the middle of anything.
Like trippinkpj, try Pleasant Holidays. I've used them too and their website is easy to navigate and will give lots of options for air/hotel packages.

Waikiki is a strip 3-4 blocks wide & about 1 1/2 miles long. So no matter where you would stay, you are no more than 4 blocks from the beach.

Besides the ones mentioned, some like the Royal Grove.

Pleasant Hawaiian has lots of packaged deals. I'm not sure most would be set up for 2 weeks though (usually shorter). Also thru the airlines themselves like Hawaiian Air.

Reasonably priced hotels that I know are good and have already been mentioned are: The Breakers, The Hawaiiana, and Royal Grove. Another one at the other end of Waikiki beach is Queen Kapiolani (it is right near the large park and zoo, and right across the street from the beach).

You might find a better deal by booking air and hotel separately, yourself. Often the package deals use much more upscale hotels, than the ones that have been mentioned here.

I think it might be worth comparing, not necessarily assuming a package will be cheaper.

In addition to all the great ideas mentioned already, another approach is to look for packages offered by airlines that serve your most convenient airport. A few years ago I did this with American Airlines and found it to be cheaper than what I could put together myself. They had a range of properties and there was complete flexibility on number of days.
