Leaf-peeping drive from NYC-Litchfield via route 7
On Oct 22 2 days from today. Some reports said the leaves have peaked and some said it is still plenty of colors to see until end of month. I am hoping people who know the area will comment.
I am opened to ideas. We go out of city in Oct every year for autumn colors. The last several years have been upstate New York. A change would be nice this year. |
You might check Yankee Magazine or Litchfield County Visitor's Bureau

We just returned from a drive up Route 22 in New York and downthe Taconic Parkway, and I can tell you first hand that the foliage is at its peak. We went as far as Millbrook (just north of Poughkeepsie). I would assume that the Litchfield area must be at a similar peak.
The Taconic is always a good foliage viewing choice. |
Thanks both. We are going to CT this time because 'Yankee mag names Kent, CT tops for leaf-peeping.....'

Definitely past peak in Litchfield County this weekend with many bare trees. It's still pretty and Kent is a nice town, but keep other smaller villages in mind too for more variety. See the covered bridge near Kent (off rt 7, so ask about it) or the one in West Cornwall.
