Le Rivage before theater? Also anything near W. 37th
We are going to see Phantom and waited too long to make reservations for dinner. I have booked Le Rivage any comments? Also need rco for Friday near W. 37th we need to be at Improv National by 7:15. My sister is a vegetarian and my nieceand granddaughter like Italian. Any help greatly appreciated. Vegetarian not coming to Le Rivage.

I see on opentable that Kellari tavern has space available - thats pretty good, fish and greek specialties with very pro service.
Around W. 37th w/ a vegetarian, and others liking Italian, I would recommend walking up 9th Avenue for some of the reasonably theatre district places like Marseille, Nizza, Cascina, or John's Pizza. |
I've eaten at Le Rivage for years, but I stopped because I just didn't think the quality was so good (and Roberto Passon and Viceversa are much better).
The food at Le Rivage is very old-fashioned French bistro food, and it's just ok. The steak (supplement) is actually quite good. Needless to say it's not Italian. The wine is pretty expensive, but the meal is a good deal for what you get. |
By the way, I can't believe you wouldn't be able to get a reservation at Roberto Passon for next Friday if you called now. And if the vegetarian wanted to go, they usually have a risotto special (admittedly, probably made with chicken stock) that is exquisite (though very expensive).

There are dozens of good Italians near Phantom. In addition to the places mp and Doug mention, there's Bond 45 and Basilica. Have a look on menupages.com
For Fri. night (I assume it's not tonight) Home on Eight is a very good vegetarian Chinese. http://menupages.com/restaurantdetai...mp;cuisineid=0 |
