Le Bernardin or Jean-Georges?

Have lunch reservations and will do the prix-fixe (couldn't get in to Aureole). Which is abetter choice, Le Bernardine or Nougatine at Jean-Georges?

Having dined soley at Le Bernardin, I can only say it was one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in North America.

Of the ones you mention, I can only attest to Le Bernardin. Like Al_LaCarte (what a great name, by the way) it was an extraordinary experience, and I've had the pleasure four times now!

The only reason I'd opt for another is if you don't like seafood.

Le Bernadin is my choice also...I have found Le Bernadin to be consistantly excellent in food and service. If you love seafood this is the place

Since I was asked, I'll make it unanimous....Le Bernardin.

One more vote for Le Bernadin, simply put, it doesn't get any better that.

Ahhh, come on Howard. Are you suggesting that "Tavern on The Green" isn't as good as Le Bernardin?

Okay, then. Le Bernardin it is!

Well, it's a very casual work day for my son so he says no to a jacket which is required at lunch. Will let you know how Nougatine is--fyi, Hearth for dinner Saturday night and Balthazar for brunch Sunday. Thanks for your thoughts.

Too bad. I took a jacket AND tie for our 8 night trip to New York for the single purpose of lunch at Le Bernardin. It is worth it to do so.

Thanks all. Do want to let you know that we had a sensational lunch at Nougatine at Jean-Georges and my son (24) could wear jeans from casual day at work! It as their standard $20.05 prix fixe lunch with 3 courses then you could order extra or differnet appetizers or entrees. We each had an additional appetizer really to sample more than a need to have more food. Started with a marinated salad that included thin asparagus, some amrinated veggies and a drssing on the side--of course nicely presented. Our extras were a fabulous fresh pea soup and the knockout tuna tartare (on avacado puree). The salmon entree was delicious and simply but perfectly prepared. A three chocolate mousse for dessert was yummy (sorry for the incomplete descriptions. Also, when I made the reservations they asked if it was for something special. I said it was to celebrate my son's new job and sure enough, there was an additonal dessert with a fondant border of good luck, a really nice and unnecessary touch. Our response was that for that price, the lunch was a joke. If I lived near it, I'd be there every day at that price!!
Next time, when it's not 90, we'll hit Le Bernadin but thanks all for your help!
