Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre from DC
 

We will be staying in the middle of DC and are thinking about going to Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre one night. Can anyone tell me if we can get there by public transportation or if we will have to hire a tazi? Has anyone gone there before?

It's really far away from DC. You could take public transport, and then a taxi, although I question whether it is worth the hassle.

In a town with tons of great theatre, dinner theatre in the outersuburbs probably isn't worth your effort.

Do not take the time or spend the money to go to the Lazy Susan. Is is VERY mediocre and the food is NOT good. There are SO many things you can do right in DC.

Is that place still around? It's been well over 25 years since I've been there. If I can remember correctly, it was the actors who served you your dinner.

Take the others advice and skip it. ((b))

Good heavens, WHY?

The performances are sub-standard and the food is even worse. Not to mention the inconvenient location (especially weekdays). Was "treated" to this experience by parents 25 years ago... Uhg!

Please, please, please, take in dinner and a show (seperately) closer to home.

I'll have to agree with all the other posters. Dinner theater is usually mediocre on both scores--both the dinner and theater.
It seems especially silly for you to consider it two obvious reasons:
1. It is not convenient for you to get there.
2. The DC dinner and theater scene offers so many better options.

OK I get the point. It just sounded like it might be fun. What about the Murder Mystery Dinner. We really liked those. Has anyone gone to this one?

I've never heard of anyone whose gone to the Murder Mystery Theater here in DC.

Given the shows you've suggested, I'd suggest Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center. It doesn't have food--which is probably blessing since food at these kinds of shows is usually awful--but has been playing forever and it is at the Kennedy Center, which is always worth a vsiit.

Whatever is playing at the Shakespeare Theatre on 7th Street will be worthwhile. It is perhaps the best classical theater in the country -- excellent actors, plus sets and costumes to take your breath away.

I suggest splitting your time between San Francisco and Yosemite. Yosemite is about a 4 hour drive from SF. Lots of gorgeous scenery can be seen without hiking. For instance, you can catch a wagon ride up the trail at Mariposa to see the magnificent sequoia trees instead of hiking it.

Oh my, wrong thread. Splitting your time between SF and Yosemite would sure be a good trick in DC.

I'd skip the Murder Mystery--these are dime a dozen kind of shows that are usually pretty mediocre--and have a theatre-free night. Or how about going to the Studio Theatre or Arena Stage.

You can go to a Murder Mystery in any city in America, so do something uniquely DC.

If you are looking for something funny and light AND uniquely Washington, D.C., I suggest you check out The Capitol Steps. This is a popular musical satire group; many of the performers are (or were) Capitol Hill staffers. They perform live at the Ronald Reagan Building at 14th St. and Pennsylvania Avenue every Friday and Saturday night.
