LAX - layover dayrooms and wifi question
I have a seven hour stopover at LAX flying SYD-LAX-IND. This will be the second international flight of the year for both my son (who will then be 19-months-old), and myself. We went to Ireland in February and so I know better than anyone about planning ahead!
I've done some searches here about the benefits of getting a day room at an onsite LAX hotel. I'm seriously contemplating doing this for my son, unless someone can give me alternate options of what to do. We arrive at 0945, and depart at 1620. I figure we'll clear customs and immigration by 1045, and need to be back at the boarding gate around 1500. If you, the hypothetical me, were in my shoes, what would you do? Stay at the airport and wait it out with son and attempt to wear him out, or take him to a hotel room and let him run around and possibly take a nap, while you, yourself, take a nice hot shower? The other question I have is, does LAX have wifi? |
Get a dayroom. Not only for your son's benefit, but for yours. A nap, shower, washing/blow drying hair and a little downtime will do wonders for both of you I am sure :-) I always wonder about people who sit around airports for 6-8+ hours (don't they feel grubby?)... the comfort of a dayroom is worth whatever it costs in my opinion.
In your case, not only will you and your son get some rest time but it will be easier on your fellow passengers ... no matter how good a traveler a 19 month old is he may be a bit fussy by the time you get to LAX (heck, I'd be fussy after a flight from SYD-LAX :-). As for wifi .. sorry I don't know. |
Lori:
Thanks for the feedback! I felt sorry for the man who was on our ORD-IND flight returning from Dublin. The poor guy got a nasty whiff of me, and my son did a #2 as soon as we took off. We were lucky it was only a 30 minute flight, but you are so right. I don't want to reek in front of the other pax. |
emlid, thanks for taking my comments goodheartedly :-) I really didn't mean you would reek but I have made many trips from LAX to Europe and know what I felt like when I got there (and looked like too for that matter). No matter how much you try and freshen up in the Lav on a plane it just does not measure up to a real shower/bath !! and no seat on a plane can compare to a bed (even an uncomfortable bed :-) )
Incidentally, I know the Hilton at LAX has day rooms. In fact I believe they call it the Kangeroo rate (at least they used to). It's a nice hotel. Any of the other large ones at LAX no doubt also have day rooms. |
Hi emilid, if you go to www.lawa.org/lax this should help you with the information you need.
I too would rent a dayroom, especially with a little one. Best regards to you. |
LOL -- thanks everyone!
