Lax - Alamo vs Dollar

For an immediate sized car - the prices are basically the same - therefore for service, car type, etc - who would you choose when hiring for LAX.

All I know is several years ago we rented from Alamo at LAX and stood there for well over two hours trying to get our reserved car. It was understaffed and total chaos. I've never rented from Alamo again, although admittedly that could have been a fluke.

I have only dropped a car off at LAX and this was with Dollar. Everything ran smoothly and there were regular shuttle buses to take us to the terminal.

I have used Dollar twice (third time coming up so fingers crossed it goes smoothly) and have had no complaints at all with the service. I have never used Alamo so can't add offer help on that front.

If you do Freguent Flyer Miles go with the one that gets you the most!
IMO you wont see much difference in the two for sevice etc.

We used Dollar rent a car in LAX last April and I have to say, there were a lot of disgruntled customers there! If you do use them, apply online for the Fastlane member card. This made a huge difference. There is a seperate fastlane counter and there were only 2 people in front of me. There were about 40 people in line at the other counter, and it was moving very slow. Returning the car was no problem I am going to use them again for my next trip to LAX only because they are so much cheaper than anyone else-over $100 cheaper for an SUV.
