Laura Plantation Fire

Just heard this morning that there was a pretty bad fire at Laura Plantation (between NO & Baton Rouge) last night. The tv said the roof was gone & inside was damaged as well. What a shame to hear such a treasure is going to be out of commission. Hope they can repair it soon. Here's a link to the story.

Yes, I read that in this morning's paper. Very sad. That's 2 plantations we've lost in the last few years--hope this one can be restored--I read they were able to save quite a bit of the furniture.

Bad news indeed! It's one of my favorite river road plantations.

Here's to a relatively speedy recovery for the old lady.

That's horrible! We visited Oak Alley a couple of years ago and poked around Laura afterwards. We had decided next time we are in the area we'd like to take a tour - I hope they can manage to salvage some of it.

How sad! The volunteers had given so much of themselves to restore that beautiful plantation. I was there three months ago. I just happen to have the Big House as my desktop background, and recall many of the treasures and stories of the various rooms. Laura Plantation, a gem!

My husband and I visited Laura plantation on our honeymoon. It was one of the highlights of our trip to New Orleans.
