laundromat

I am looking for a laundromat the public can use near Many Glacier Hotel, Montana

DebitNM Apr 26th, 2013 04:52 AM

Can't you ask the hotel? It looks like it is pretty remote.

happytrailstoyou Apr 26th, 2013 05:59 AM

Yes, call the hotel. I believe there are laundry facilities at the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn Area about a mile from the hotel. If not, check with Johnson's Camp Ground in St. Mary--20 miles away.

Using Google{R}, it took me about 20 seconds to find these URLs:

http://www.allglacier.com/essentials...rs_laundry.php
http://www.glacierparkinc.com/general_faq.php

It appears that there is a laundry at the nearby Swiftcurrent Inn.

LOL

<i>Using Google{R}, it took me about 20 seconds to find these URLs:</i>

It would have been so good if this advice hadn't come with a putdown. What is served by it? I'm not LOLing.

I'll tell you one thing not to do at Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.

There's no cell service in at least that part of the park.

There are a couple of phones outside the restaurant/store.

We made a few calls using those phones and were disgusted by what we were charged. I can't remember if we reversed the charges or charged them on our credit cards. But I do remeber an extreme ripoff amount. Like about $15 or $20 extra app.

spirobulldog Apr 26th, 2013 07:37 PM

HTTY, Not sure if your last post is directed to me or not. Sorry, I found humor in Paul's Post. I don't see how my Post or Pauls was a "put down" It just seems most people would think to google that. Obviously the first three post didn't think of google. I don't think Paul meant it as a put down and I know I didn't by LOLing it either. Lighten up

DebitNM Apr 27th, 2013 06:02 AM

Actually I did google, but the map was so desolate and I was pressed for time, I suggested calling hotel.

There is nothing wrong with asking for info here but often when you need an answer to a simple question like this - google is easy. It's not like they asked for the "best" or "cheapest" laundromat where personal input would matter. Now if they were asking for the hottest laundromat that had a date and suds night...

happytrailstoyou Apr 27th, 2013 07:43 AM

<i> Lighten up.</i>

I don't consider mocking others to be "lightening up." I find it cruel. Why not be kind? We have choices how to relate to others.

"It took me about 20 seconds." Did it? I doubt it. If it did, why say so? That's what I meant by "What is served be it?" Perhaps there is humor here that I'm missing.

The information is great. Why diminish it?

I guess I could have winced and moved on, but I had some free time to ponder what was going on.

Let me settle the issue:

I said what I said to make clear that Google{R} will invariably get you answers faster than asking here. If you feel insulted by my pointing that out, I apologize -- that was not my intention. And, believe it or not, I wasn't trying to be funny, either. Rather I hoped to show how useful Google is compared to this site. I love this place -- I've been posting here for over fourteen years -- but I prefer a URL that give you answers in seconds, while posting here can take hours to get the same information. If I simply posted the info WITHOUT showing the advantages of my approach, I would have (to some extent) failed in a teachable moment.

Give a person an answer and they'll be happy for a day. Teach a person how to find an answer and they'll be happy for life. If you've had trouble finding things with Google{R} (Lord knows *I* have!), feel free to ask the search strategies I've learned over the years.

And, yes, I DID find those URL's in about 20 seconds. It took me about ten minutes to sort out and post the info, which means I found (and posted) info in an hour less time than it took the OP to be told (twice) to call the hotel. If my help (both in info and approach) was inferior to simply saying, "Call the hotel," then I apologize for my judgement.

HTTY,
Often the problem with texting, tweeting, blogging, facebooking, whatever. It is hard to tell the exact Tone of what was meant or wasn't meant.
The reason Paul said 20 seconds was to show that often it is very easy to do a search on Yahoo,Google, etc to find the answer. The humor to me was that the first 2 posts suggested calling(which wasn't a bad suggestion, btw), but the fact that it could have been found(very easily)without posting anything on here was funny to me(yes, I can see how you could see it was somewhat directed at you-I didn't see at as putting you down though).
FWIW, You and Paul have given me help/insight before and I do appreciate it.
