The hotel is in a good location on Lauderdale Beach. Right next door to Beach Place which is a relatively new complex of small stores and restaurants.

The hotel itself is nothing to right home about. Getting rather old. They have some motel style, newly renovated rooms, pool-side in the back. We stayed there a year and a half ago on a free weekend. It was clean and fine.
Bob:

Stay at a motel at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Fl. I'm going to this town 5 miles north of Ft. Lauderdale in May 2002. I refuse to stay in Fort Lauderdale.

Stay at a motel on Lauderdale Beach. I wouldn't go to another town 5 miles away. I refuse to stay in an old people's paradise like Lauderdale by the Sea. Shuffleboard is not my thing.

My husband and I stayed at the Ft. Lauderdale Beach hotel for 4 nights just after Thanksgiving. We had a room with a balcony and two double beds. The bathroom was small and not very well lit, the room was OK. Our refrigerator did not work but they brought us a new one. The daily maid service was really lacking but everyone else at the hotel was very nice and helpful. We noticed that pilots stayed there. It's in a great location but just an OK hotel, try to get a special rate at least under $100. per night, not worth more.

We used to stay at the Sheraton Yankee Clipper on the beach. As for Lauderdale on the Sea being filled with shuffleboarders, nothing is further from the truth....

XX, I wasn't taling about Ft. Lauderdale or a place called Lauderdale on the sea if that even exists. I'm talking about the retirement haven known as Lauderdale-By-the-Sea. Have you stayed there? It is a world apart from Ft. Lauderdale.

Not all people like to party (I like rest and relaxation). I'm 36-years old and I love Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. I like the non-crowded beaches. Also, no building can be over 3 stories so the whole town seems like it is closer to the ocean. I also love the pastel colors family run motels along with a small mall that is within easy walking distance of the Coral Key Inn.
