Latham Hotel Washington DC
Has anyone stayed at the Latham? What is your opinion of the hotel and the location? Is there a convenient bus or metro to get to the White House and other attractions? Thanks
|
If you are asking about the location, it is nice to actually include that info in your question.
|
I am referring to the Latham Hotel-Georgetown in Washington, DC. Thanks
|
That is only somewhat helpful. An actual address would be more so. There is no Metro rail station in Georgetown. The closest is Foggy Bottom.
If you look at a map, you can see where the hotel is in relation to where you want to go. www.wmata.com is the Metro's website. www.hopstop.com is a great source for walking/transit directions and also gives taxi estimates. |
Why are you being so difficult, vjp? There's no need to be so unhelpful, which would include giving random websites.
The Latham is in Gtown. It isn't close to a Metro (10-15 minute walk) but is on a busy busline. Gtown is a nice part of town, but not necessarily convenient for touring, although DC is not terrifically spread out. |
I've stayed there, the hotel is very nice and very centrally located within Georgetown. However, Georgetown does not have a metro stop (I think it's a little bit further than a 10 or 15 min walk) so that's something to be aware of.

There is nothing random about those website. They are very helpful.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if you want specific info about a location you have to mention the address. Falls under the category "no brainer." |
The Latham is at 30th& M. It's a nice hotel in a part of town with lots of shopping and dining.
You can get to the White House and other attractions by the local buses. One good system is the Circulator (the Georgetown-Union Station Route): http://www.dccirculator.com/ Once you've gotten out of Georgetown into the downtown area, the Metrorail system is good for getting between the sights. http://www.wmata.com/rail/maps/map.cfm (click on the different stops for more info - including area maps). or: http://www.stationmasters.com/System...ystem_map.html |
I thought vjps,s websites were very relevant and helpful.
THIS is a random website: http://mosmetro.ru/flash/scheme01.html |
OK, random was the wrong word. Vjp was being unnecessarily unhelpful in his/her comments and needlessly pedantic.

boohoo

Perhaps best of all, the Latham Hotel is home to Michel Richard's Citronelle, arguably the best restaurant in Washington, DC. It's very very expensive and you'd need to make reservations well in advance. But wow what an experience.

"boohoo"
Classy. |
Second jp36's comment about Citronelle. If you are a foodie, it would be a meal to remember.

We have just received a great offer from the Phoenix Park Hotel on North Capitol St NW. Has anyone stayed there recently and is it convenient to transportation? It seems to be closer to center city than the Latham Hotel. Thanks
|
1 block from Union Station / Metro
2 blocks from U.S. Capitol Building 3 blocks from the Mall Yeah, I'd say it is a good location - definately a better location than the Latham. |
