late breakfast in San Diego
 

Trying to please 8 people - I'm needing a good, inexpensive spot. Our flight arrives just before 9, so after picking up luggage and rent cars, we'll head for eats!
Hash House a go-go and Cafe 222 are two that I've looked at. Does anyone have an updated review of these, or suggestions for something else?

and it's Monday morning, not a weekend...
I knew I wasn't ready to post yet!

a stranger recently told us hat Hash House was the best for breakfast. We got there about 9:00 on a Sunday morning and they quoted us a 90 minute wait - for breakfast!!!!!! It must be good...no other suggestion, sorry!

What is your final destination? Hash House a Go-Go is up Fifth Ave. heading into Hillcrest (and is great). If you don't mind delving into that neighborhood, there's City Deli on University; deli/diner grub, cheap, plentiful and tasty.

Is Jimmy Carter's Café on Fifth still open? It's not too far from Hash House a Go-Go, and the breakfast offerings are wonderful.

Thanks for your replies! We're staying on Point Loma, but the house won't be ready till 2pm, so we have plenty of time. Plan to eat, grocery shop, etc. before checking in.
BUT dad just called, and he'd love to find a sports bar or somewhere close to the airport that would have the Cotton Bowl still on. (We're from Lubbock...) Maybe a breakfast place with TV's...?

Not sure how adventurous you are but I LOVE Old Town. Not far from the airport, a 5 or 10 minute drive if that. You can eat a traditional Mexican breakfast, outside dining, if it is cold there are heaters. I ate breakfast there every a.m. during our last visit to S.D. There are cafes along the main street. I can't think of the names off hand but you can;t miss them. They make tortilla's right on the street. You will love it! Great breakfasts!!

Hash Haus was great in '04. You could split the "entrees" among three or four.

I am not a Hash House a Go Go fan. The servings are huge, the tables are very tight, and the morning that we went, there was a long wait and it was SOOOOOOO loud. Couldn't wait to get out of there.

We love a little place on Hotel Circle (Hwy 8) in front of the Travel Lodge called Adams Steak and Eggs. The men in my family love it. Good prices, steak and eggs, carne asada with tortillas, omellets, crepes, the works. I love their hash browns. Great service, good selection.

Our alltime favorite is either Harrys up in La Jolla, and the Cottage, also in La Jolla. OR, DZ Atkins off of College Ave. near San Diego State. That deli has some of the best food in the city. But not sure if any of these have TVs.

You could do an early lunch and eat at Trophys or Seau's. Both are in Mission Valley, not too far from the airport. Hope this helps.
