Last minute trip from San Francisco to Napa, help!

We've extended our trip by 2 days and here is the idea~

Have a rental car delivered to our hotel Sat. AM at 8:00am.
Drive across Golden Gate, stop for photos on other side.

Drive to Muir woods. Do a short hike.

Drive over to Sonoma, visit a winery or two,
Drive over to Napa, visit a winery or two....have lunch.
etc;

Back to Union Sq. hotel around 6pm. ?

Any thoughts, hints, ideas, winery suggestions?

I love Cakebread, might try and hit that winery. I've been looking
at wineries that are also architecturally cool!

Thanks in advance!

IMO you are pushing too much into time frame..
I would just expand time at each place--dinner in St. Helena or Napa. Gets dark around 5 PM now but you will have already seen most of scenery on way to Sonoma.
Back in SF by 8PM or so --
Good luck...

I agree with traveler. You have to factor in the possibility of traffic jams. We ran into tremendous delays due to traffic on our trip in and out of Napa a few summers ago. Bumper to bumper for miles! Almost missed our evening show. Give yourself plenty of time if you have a deadline.

If you are set on Cakebread, it is reservation only!

Yes, you're both right. We will save it for another
trip!

Thanks!

I agree with doing Napa or Sonoma, as there is construction on Hwy. 12 between Sonoma and Napa which causes significant delays right now.

Photos & views from the GG Bridge back to the City won't be that great in the morning. The sun will be directly in your face & behind the City. Much better in the afternoon.

Thanks, we went to Palace of Fine Arts, and took a ferry to Sausalito. It was a great day.

Next trip, we'll plan Napa better.
