Last minute Manhattan hotel?

Here's hoping someone can help... I need a hotel room for one night --this coming Wed, June 4th in Manhattan. I am flexible about area. Nothing fancy, but I do want something clean and safe. Any ideas? I have checked several sights and most hotels seem to be booked. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Wow, I wonder what's going on - I just check Hotwire and there's NOTHING in Manhattan for that night.

I suggest you start calling hotels and don't rely solely on the Internet. I found that they hold a certain number of rooms and you'll get those by actually calling directly.

Good luck!!

P.S. We stayed at One the Ave on the UWS but a room there on your date is close to $600.

Comfort Inn Midtown (on 46th between 6th and 7th) has a room with a King bed for $315 plus taxes. Also, I'd suggest that you place direct phone calls to each hotel in the Apple Core hotel group.

Try the Hampton Inns. One nearer Central Park and there is a newer one in lower Manhattan.

You might try the HOtel Grand Union on E 32nd ST.

Also try www.hotels.com for more ideas and rates.

I just checked Quickbook and the only hotel I found with a good rate for your date is the Maarakech, which is uptown on Broadway. The rate on Quickbook was $229nt. Other than that all the hotel rates seem very high right now.

The only other alternative I can think of is Priceline.com

Good luck

You don't want to stay at the Marrakech. It was previosly a hostel and has been partially converted to a hotel - or says it has. Services are minimal and there have beennumerous reports of all types of problems, including dirty conditions.

I actually checked out the hotel for a friend coming into town and it the room I saw was clean, and the place has been updated to a hotel. There are restaurants in the immediate area, it's close to the #1 train, and based on checking some of the travel sites for that night may be one of the only inexpensive options for that night.

Good luck.

scorrel:

Try www.kayak.com to see hotels with rooms available and then start calling.

Good luck.
