Last minute get away websites?
 

Hi:

We are looking to do a budget get away trip for one or two nights from Los Angeles. We can travel during the week and I was wondering if anyone knows of any websites that specialize in "last minute" pricing, kind of like lastminute.com for Europe.

I also have been too scared to try Priceline or Hotwire for fear of ending up next to a convention center in someplace like Coast Mesa...nice enough place but not my idea of a vacation :) So I would be interested in hearing others experiences with that.

So any tips on strategy to save money on lodging in a "my dates are flexible" scenario would be appreciated. Would packages be a good approach for last minute planning??

I know that travelzoo.com is a good one and lastminutetravel.com for last minute budget trips.

You will know what area you are bidding in on Priceline and will know the possible hotels in that area if you check biddingfortravel.com first.

Both travelzoo and site59 look interesting! Travelzoo has a nice offer for Palm Springs and there is always Vegas :)
