Last minute details- need help from NYC experts!
Counting down the days- arriving Sat for a week (DH, 18 y/o daughter, and me). Have an itinerary penciled in, but still have a few questions... (DH and I have been to NYC many times, first trip for daughter).
Read about the Annex Antiques Flea Market- is that worth a special trip?
Want to visit Greenwich Village (can't believe I haven't been yet!). Does day of the week matter- we could go Sunday, our first full day, or we could also go Tues. Just want to stroll around and soak in the sights.
How is the NBC Studio Tour/Rockefeller Center tour? Worth the time and $$$ to do?
Have had some good feedback on Ellis Island tour- I'm thinking to save it for another time. Perhaps just do Staten Island Ferry instead? (I know, I know, the museum is great, but it sounds like a hassle to go-)
Thanks so much- I know I'll have more questions, but wanted to get going with these!

If you are a flea/antique market addict, then the flea market on 25th--the one in the parking garage--is fun. Quality and variety of items varies. I have bought vintage cufflinks, baby sweaters, purses, silver, Christmas decorations, etc. You need to get there early for the real treasures, though. If you are not a flea market fan, it might be disappointing, though.

I don't think you have to make a "special" trip to check out the Annex flea market. If you get up early on Sunday, it's a great way to start the day since not much else is open early on a Sunday morning. You could then explore a bit of Chelsea or head down to the village or head further south to the SI ferry. The village will be much more crowded on a weekend than during the week.
I've heard mixed reviews on the NBC tour. I think it depends on which studios you get to see. Those that see the SNL studio, esp. if there's a rehearsal on love it. More info here

If you're here for a week, not sure what the problem is going to Ellis Island. If you come back for a long weekend, then you really won't want to take the time. Given that the weather forecast for the next week is ideal, I can't imagine a better time to go.

Ellis Island is definitely worth the trip, but I'd advise getting down there early. A few weeks ago, my husband and I tried to get a boat over there because the weather was terrific and he hadn't been to Ellis Island since they redid it decades ago. The line was more than an hour long to get on a boat, and it didn't look as though it would be a pleasant hour, with a loud-speaker blaring about the one-hour wait and the crowds...Then again, plenty of people seemed game for the experience, so maybe we missed out. (We walkted up to and across the Brooklyn Bridge instead.)
Have fun!

Another fun thing to do while you are here would be a street fair, and there are probably a couple going on this weekend. You might google street fairs in NYC for links and also try www.nytourist.com for more ideas on what's going on while you are here.

Definitely do Ellis Island this trip - early in the am on a weekdays. Saving it for a later trip - onn a weekend of when kids are out of school will only make the lines longer. Weathe is good now - but tourists are not mobbing us yet - so this will be a great time to go.
Get ferry tickets in advance = then you only have one line (security) to stand on.

Just posted this for someone else. The annual Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse (a fundraiser for Boys and Girls Club) will still be on. It's fantastic! It's in a townhouse on 82nd Street, off Fifth (right near the Met). Top decorators each get a room to furnish, and what creativity and eye for style they each display! If you go, be sure to walk into every room to see everything (especially the closet in the purple bedroom.). info at http://kipsbay.org/showhouse.html
