Southwest airlines is always reliable for lower fares when you have a last minute flight to take.

Not so sure about Southwest. I recently had to do a last-minute one-way booking from Sacramento to BWI. At about 8 days out, Southwest (and everyone else) was in the $150 range. When I actually made the booking, inside the 7-day period, everyone was over $300--including Southwest, which obviously controls those prices.

Southwest was a bargain years back. I agree, in the last few years I've done better with other airlines (American, America West).

Most of the airlnes will kt u sign up for a last minute weekend fare e-notice like United Delta etc.
