Last day in San Francisco tomorrow - What can we do?
We are heading out on the red eye tomorrow night so we have one full day left. We are a family of four with two teens. We planned on doing the Exploratorium tomorrow but after reading the recent reviews, it seems pretty run down and geared toward younger kids.
We do plan on sleeping in, doing a little laundry, and relaxing a bit. The hills and cold weather are getting to us! lol This is what we have done: Fisherman's Wharf area, Muir Woods, Sausalito, Union Square, Haight Ashbury walking tour, Alamo Square, Golden Gate, Alcatraz, aquarium, Ca. Science Academy, Cable Car Museum, Chinatown, bus tour, and Coit Tower. I am sure there were a few other things that I can't remember at the moment. The Go Cars looked cool but I have read about a lot of problems with the company so that concerns me. A Segway tour would also appeal to the kids but they seem to tour areas we have already spent a great deal of time in. So far, the number one best thing they have enjoyed was the old time arcade! lol They also loved Alcatraz. Any suggestions? |
Wow, you've already done so much! How about a "day trip" to Berkeley or Stanford? You can easily get to Berkeley via BART or to Stanford via Cal-Train.

Thanks! I like both of those ideas. We did the free City Guides Haight walking tour and it was great!
I know my oldest would love Berkeley. I will have to map it out. Not sure we want to be gone all day. |
Do you have a car?
I'd go to Rodeo Beach..across teh Golden GAte Bridge then left. Old Fort w/tunnels great hiking, great pacific ocean beach, lighthouse. |
There's a Giants game tomorrow--its a day game, you might be able to pick up tix on Stubhub.

Too many choices! I didn't realize we could get to Berkeley in only 20 minutes on Bart. That is a definite option.
The kids aren't big sports fans. They would put up with a game but I don't really want to spend all that money on tickets for something they aren't into. We won't have a car available. I think we will see how we are all feeling in the morning. If we are in the mood, we will head to Berkeley. If not, I think we will try and catch a few walking tours. Thanks for the ideas! |
Go out Geary to Lands End. After you've roamed some of the trails, slip on down past Cliff House and check out Ocean Beach. I love this whole area, and always check it out anytime I'm near the City--it's where the wild begins.

Lands End is great. But the OP is already home.
