Las Vegas with the inlaws
 

My husband and I are both Las Vegas veterans and have decided to take his parents to Las vegas in the beginning of January. While we know where we are staying, and have ideas for places to eat, we are both at a complete loss of what to do with his parents while we are there. They are in their late 60's early 70's. His father is in a wheelchair and likes to play the slots and his mother has no mobility issues but does not like to gamble. Anyone been in this situation before and have some ideas? On or off the strip will be fine as we are renting a car.
Here are the ideas we have so far. Red rock canyon, the observation deck of the stratosphere or the Eiffel tower, the lions at the MGM, Laughlin, and a drive up to Mt. Charleston. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't like to gamble either but I do love wandering through the casinos and the beautiful hotel lobbies. Then there's Bellagio and its conservatory. I haven't been but I think there's also an art museum there or somewhere nearby. Your Mom might enjoy that.

The Liberace Museum is really good. It's located off-Strip, but there is a free shuttle. I really got a kick out of it.

The aquarium and shark exhibit at Mandalay Bay are wonderful.

We liked going into each casino and seeing the sights and buying a deck of used cards from each gift shop. They make nice souvenier presents.

How about driving to Hoover Dam/Lake Mead? It's 25-30 miles.

I was just in Vegas with my sister and 82 year old mother. We stayed at Bellagio and had the use of a wheelchair for the 5 days from them.

We also rented a car and found it very useful to get around. It was so convenient to do the valet parking at all the casino's and they were very helpfull getting the wheelchair in and out of the car.

We didn't do as much as we had planned. My Mom who really doesn't gamble found the penny slots and had a great time at them until 3 in the morning. Of course she didn't get up till noon the next day. She had fun and that is what the trip was about.

We had plans to visit the Hoover Dam and Red Rock but it just never happened. We did go and see "O" and she really enjoyed that. She just loved visiting the different casino's and was quite amazed at them.

When I asked for advice before we went someone told me to just plan on doing one thing a day as that is about what they can handle. She was exactly right.

It was a trip for my Mom so we just went with the flow and she had a wonderful time in her own way.
