Las Vegas with Teens - Hotels?

Following up to my other post to which I got great responses. Now I need recommendations on hotels. Since this is my vacation too, I would like minimum Marriott-type accommodations with a GREAT pool area for the teenagers with a tropical ambiance for moi. Easy access to attractions but I can't stand the thought of too circus-like an atmosphere at the hotel itself. I am trying to fool myself into thinking this is a spa vacation

How is the Mandalay Bay in terms of being appropriate for kids? It seems to have a great water area. There are lots of coupons for their restaurants on restaurant dot com, as well as for a gazillion other area restaurants.

If we can find a deal no more than $180/night in a hotel of good quality, that would be great.

Again, advice is really appreciated.

I also replied to your other thread. MB's pool area is great for kids, with a lazy river and a wave pool. Beware though, of the following things: 1) If you try to make reservations at the MB's Website, they will do everything they can to talk you out of staying there with kids. They try to talk you into Excalibur or one of their other properties. It didn't work for us, but they gave it their best shot. , 2) The typical nonsense of having to get down to the pool to reserve your chair by 9am is alive and well here. 3) They charge you $20/per day (this was a couple of years ago) to rent one of those large tubes to float in the lazy river. Stop off at Rite-aid and buy yourself a couple of $2 floats. 4) It is at the far end of the strip, so everywhere else you go is quite a journey. There is a free shuttle which stops at the MB, Luxor, & Excalibur.

Why does MB try to talk you out of staying there with the kids? Are they trying to keep the property kid-free? Strange.
Love the tip on the inner tubes. Those extra charges are infuriating!

my husband is taking our son to Vegas for his 21st birthday this weekend. I've booked them at the Platinum, a one year old condo- hotel two blocks off the midstrip. I reserved a 1083 sq. foot 1 bedroom for $134 a night (total). The pool area looks very cool. I'll be interested to see what my husband thinks; we just stayed at the Signature, and LOVED it!

We actually prefer to stay in condos - we hate having to go out for breakfast. I can't find this place in a regular web search - keep coming up with MGM Grand Signature suites. Any tips? Thanks!.

I really like this place! Seems like a nice chill oasis from all the craziness when you need a break. How did you book it?

Mandalay Bay has a nice pool. Flamingo does too, but it is a bit more dated (however, it's cheaper and has a much more convenient location right in the middle of the strip). I like staying at Bill's, which is next door to Flamingo. It's a smaller hotel with very very nice rooms, without a pool, but they have an agreement to allow guests to use the Flamingo pool next door.

The Hilton Grand Vacations Club at the Flamingo would give you access to the Flamingo pool (as convenient, if not more so, as staying at the Flamingo itself). The rooms/suites are large and you can get one with a kitchen, washer/dryer, and a hot tub.

I've stayed at TheHotel and The Venetian, my hubby has stayed at an executive suite at the Wynn, and we both found the Signature to be by far our favorite place so far in Vegas. Really luxurious, and the kitchenette in our jr. suite just made life easier, since we love having coffee in the room in the morning. We just stayed in Novemeber 07. We rented from an owner on vrbo, and had a great expereience, and saved about $100 over a 2 night stay vs. the mgmsignature.com web site. I can't recommend it highly enough.
The condo experience would be nice for teens, as when my kids were younger, they felt pretty unwelcome in the casinos. Enjoy!

sorry for all the separate posts! I've also booked the Platinum over on vrbo.com. We'll see after this weekend how it works out.
