Las Vegas with son
My son and I are spending a much needed weekend in Vegas in may. We stayed there one night last year on a grand canyon trek and had a blast. I do not gamble so please no posts on exposing my son to that vice.
I am a single father on a limited budget and won three free hotel nights so this is the only option. Looking forward to just hanging out at the pool.
Any recs on cheap eats, places to see and if possible to do red rock canyon without a rental car.
Last year we saw Lance Burton and loved it.
any suggestions on other shows to see.

I would recommend Danny Ganns as a show to see. He does vocal impressions and is good for a wide variety of ages (although if your son is much younger than 10-12, I'm not sure if he would like it). Also, there are many companies that do Red Rock tours. They will pick you up at your hotel and you go on a half-day 4x4 tour. Ask your hotel concierge for a company name or do an internet search. Have fun!

You don't say how old your son is but I just took my 21 year old son there and we saw De La Guardia. We both loved it. Kind of a combination of a circus act, Stomp and a rave. If he's older than, say 15, I think he'd enjoy it and as I said I also loved it and I'm well into "middle age". (shudder) Its fairly inexpensive as Vegas shows go.

We went to the Cirque du Soleil last year - not the one at Bellagio - that sells out weeks in advance - but the one by Treasure Island. Good show.

How about Circus Circus, its free and fun, went with my 3 kids, 2, 5, and 9. Items not free but interesting, Hoover Dam, the lion habitat @ MGM, Shark Reef @ Mandalay Bay, Sigfried & Roy Secret Garden @ Mirage just to name a few and of course there is Wet and Wild, . ENJOY. We did the kids can't stop talking about it.
