Las Vegas with 8 y/o daughter

Hi: My daughter and I will travel with my wife (who has a three day convention) to Las Vegas the first week of May 2014. Any suggestions what I can do with my daughter, besides the hotel pool, while my wife is in meetings?
Thank you,
Long Island, NY

Rent a car and go out to Hoover Dam. She will be impressed.
There is also a parking lot where you can walk up to the big new bridge. The apex of the arch and the state line are marked on the walkway on the bridge.
To avoid a parking charge going to see the dam, go over the dam to the Arizona side and up to the second parking area (free).

All of the above - Plus a daughter/daddy shopping trip could be fun.

Pack a lunch one day and take her to Valley of Fire. Look for petroglyphs on the rocks on the left side of the trail out to Mouse's Tank. Visit the CCC cabins and give a little history of that era.

Spend an afternoon in Red Rock Canyon, about a half hour from the strip.

Do go to the dam and take the dam tour.
