Las Vegas - where to watch the Oscars
 

I realize that this is a late post but I am surprised how difficult it's been to find a place to watch this year's Academy Awards in Vegas. My friend and I are in town from Chicago and are looking for a fun place to catch the show tonight. We've asked our concierge and several locals we've encountered but nobody has any insight.

I'd appreciate any recommendations on lounges/bars, restaurants, etc. that will be showing them.

I am in the same situation...I am in Vegas from Florida (formerly lived in Lincoln Park (Chicago). I am meeting a friend today in Vegas and we want to watch the Oscars. I have also asked my concierge but have not been given solid advice.

Someone suggested Planet Hollywood, since it is the only major hotel in Vegas with a movie theme, but I do not know.

If I find a good place, I will put another post on Fodor's for you.

If you happen have a little black dress (or black suit and tie), for $300 you can go to the Rain at the Palms for Oscar Night America.

Planet Hollywood has no offical plan to specifically show the Oscars, but I am sure it won't be hard to get a bartender to change the channel to ABC.

Use a search engine to look for "Oscars, Las Vegas, 2009" and see what you can find. Be creative with the search criteria and the results get better.

I'm not familiar with any possibilities, but there's a cocktail lounge at Paris, just off the casino floor, with a large round bar surrounded with TV's overhead. There's also comfortable seating in the bar area with views of all those TV's. Across the way (far enough not to be too loud) there's usually a live band. And, this bar is close to the restaurants/shops if the show gets boring or you want to do something else for a while.
