Erin,
I don't know if you noticed but this is a travel message board. I am sure that there is a message board where people are discussing grave social issues but this isn't it.

Hey Bill, I'm with you. The Venetian is great and here to stay. Standard rooms are fabulous and room service, restaurants great. The Bellagio's STANDARD rooms are cramped and starting to look a bit worn around the edges. Must concede the B pool deck is quite cool, but check out the Grand Canyon Spa for pampering. All that said, I look forward to trying out the Four Seasons and the Summerlin. Opinions??? Ciao, folks.
Bill:

You are indeed a piece of work. How anybody can get so worked up about a hotel is beyond me. As far as the Venetian being around, I sincerely hope that you are right. However I suggest that you do some research on their financial and management situation. Neither one is very good and thier future looks quite cloudy. Extremely large debt burden with gaming revenues insufficient to service it.

Boy, this thread has been something else. I guess that we no longer need to ask these sort of questions about Hotels anymore. I am sure that Bill and LVSuzie will straighten us out.

Just remember one important thing. The only opinion that counts is yours. If you like it than who cares what others think or say.

Katie:

I would like to apologize to you for the way that this thread has gone. Please don't let some peoples hostility affect your plans. Pay no attention to these folks.

Las Vegas is a great place and you will love it. The California coast is great as well. I wish the best for both of you and sincerely hope that you have a wonderful wedding and honeymoon.

Incidently, you will more than likely be quite happy with the Bellagio, Venetian, or Caesar's Palace.

LVLarry:

Well, you do insist on having the last word. As to the tone of this thread, compare it to others where you've posted multiple times on the subject of Vegas hotels, and used words such as "ridiculous", etc. to categorize other posters' opinions. (Search under LVLarry for the totality of the cirmumstances here, folks.) As to people having their opinion, and expressing it, that's what the forum is for, let's just not personalize.

Katie:

You'll have a great time. Las Vegas is a hoot (can't believe that anyone would take it that seriously), and canyon country is spectacular. Try a web search under Red Rock Canyon. There's also Zion National Park nearby with some nice lodging at Springdale, and of course, the Grand Canyon. The Desert Pearl Inn in Springdale looks very nice. Between now and next July you have lots of time to search both on the web and on this forum. There have been many helpful posts on canyon country here. You'll have a wonderful trip. I fondly look back to our last visit to London, and wish you the best from these shores.
Cheers!

Thank you, LVSusie -- for your most excellent TASTE, of course!! (It's so nice to have someone in my corner who understands what REAL LUXURY is all about!!)

Well! I didn't expect to start such a heated debate!! Thank you everyone for your comments and advice - we have booked our holiday now and really look forward to coming to the US next year.

Just to let you know, the decision on our trip was sort of made for us by our travel agent - only the Venetian was available so we are staying there (please don't let the row start again!!). We are marrying on July 5th in Vegas, which is the bit I am looking forward to most! :-)

Thanks again
Katie
Katie, hope you will remember to make a posting upon your return and give us all the details! Enjoy the Venetian -- I know you will (and the Bellagio, too)!
|
Actually, Katie, you will enjoy the ENTIRE strip -- from the Venetian down to the other end where Mandalay Bay is located. You will LOVE it all! (You might even find a crumpet or two if you look hard enough!)
