Las Vegas Vdara - Valet Parking / Tipping
 

Hi everyone,
we will be staying at this hotel over the Christmas break.
As we are coming from Australia, we are unsure of tipping in regards to valet parking.
I think the price is included in the resort fee but am wondering what is the usual tip to give the person each time you are in and out of your car?

It's pretty easy. A couple of dollars whenever you take the car out is enough. Or you can also give the attendant a couple of dollars when you drop it off (the theory being they take more care parking because of the tip).

The one thing you'll quickly realize in LV is that you tip early and often for every possible service. Not the front desk, but virtually everyone else who does something for you. That's how people live in Vegas; they often get paid minimum wage or less, which is simply not enough to sustain one person, much less a family. Assume 20% for meals, a couple of dollars for every round of drinks at the bar, at least a dollar if someone brings you a "free" drink while you are gambling. And a nice tip to the dealer if you win at a table, nothing if you lose.

LA d leave a few dollars on the table after eating at a buffet for the person who clears your plates, gets you drinks eye.

we have travelled to the US ( and Vegas )in the past but have never used valet parking before and were unsure of the procedure for tipping.
Any other tips would be appreciated.

Leave a few $ for the hotel maid too, I would rather hand it to them than leave it in the room unless there is a tip envelope.

Hard to find the maid to tip them. Lots on each floor in a hotel that big. We leave a few dollars EACH day on the bed with a note that says "Thanks" so they know it's for them. Since they often work different rooms on different days, I do not like leaving a tip at the end of stay, you never know if the person that gets it actually cleaned the room on any other day. Leaving it daily makes sure the actual person who cleans my room gets the tip. I am always pleasantly surprised when they leave a "thank you" note in return; doesn't happen all the time but a lot.
