LAS VEGAS VACATION PACKAGES, PLEASE HELP
I'm planning on taking my wife to Vegas as a Anniversary surprise. I need any help with your thoughts on air/hotel/other goodies packages. We will be arriving on a Friday nite and leaving on Monday noon, total of 3 nites, 4 days. Does anyone know of some sites with really worth-the-time-looking into Vegas packages? Or should I consult Triple A? Has anyone used a package to visit Vegas? Tell me about it. Also I've budgeted $700.00 for the trip. This is the most important question....is this about right or I am I way under-budgeted?

Check out
http://www.onlinevacationmall.com/de...ada/lashot.htm Check with your travel agent, s/he may have just received a real bargain on some rooms the hotel wants to dump. If there is a hotel you want to stay at, call their 800 line and ask what special deals they have for the weekend you're interested in. The manager may have just told the reservation clerk to sell rooms for that weekend no matter what the cost. With a little legwork, you should be able to find a wonderful package deal. |
We just returned from our third trip to Las Vegas. The first two times we used a travel agent and bought a package. I decided to research and see if I could get a better price myself. Well, I saved us at least $200. It's very easy! Vegas is very oriented to the traveler. I'm sure it depends on where you are flying from and which hotel you stay at. We always fly Southwest. They have a $140 round trip which is the best I found. Also, call the hotels for quotes. The internet packages were not a good deal and had restrictions. We stayed at the new Monte Carlo. Wow, it is beautiful and in a good location. We paid $80 weekday and $130 weekend. Plan on paying more if you stay weekends. We always fly in on Wednesday and out Saturday morning. You are still there for the great shows on Fri/Sat nights. We were able to do our three night package for $570. When calling the Mirage, Caesars and Treasure Island they wanted $170 and up for the rooms. Forget that, go for the Monte Carlo. Great pool area, shopping, nightly brewery with great live music, buffet, or fast food. Be sure to see Lance Burton's magic show. It's for adults for sure. Amazing! MGM, New York New York, Excaliber, Luxor all on the surrounding block. You can take the tram from MGM free down to the Mirage, Caesars, Treasure Island. We were not impressed with the Stratosphere. It looks like it could flop easily. There is also free shuttle to the Rio at the end of the block from Monte Carlo. You will have a wonderful time with the spouse and if your careful, do it for $700. Take your gambling money and plenty for shows. Go to www.lasvegas.com for entertainment for the next several months. e-mail me if you want other advice.

paul and cramer have great advice for you. You might also look into the Tropicana(near the Luxor, MGM, etc) or the Plaza(downtown). The amount you have set aside should be good. Be sure to keep it in a safe place at all times. Check with Reservations Plus (1-800-805-9528), they specialize in Vegas packages. You didn't say from where or when you are traveling, but I do want to wish you and your wife a great anniversary. Be sure to tell whoever does your reservations, it will be your anniversary, and tell the hotel, also. I am a travel specialist and Las Vegas has always been one of my favorite cities. If I can be any help, e-mail me and I'll do what I can, no charge. Have fun!!

You might want to consider staying downtown, the Golden Nugget is nice and it has a parking garage at its side entrance that is convenient if you rent a car. I liked staying downtown and taking a bus to the strip and not having to worry about parking. Also, if you like low stakes gambling, you can play roulette for a dime and blackjack for a dollar at some of the casinos down the street. Even if you stay on the strip, go downtown at least one evening and see the laser light show played on the hour at night. Have fun, I love it there.
