Las Vegas trip report
Well, it was a business trip. They had the meetings at Mandalay Bay. Very nice but long walks to the convention center. We did get to see the pools this year, we both had our keys. The wave beach looks very impressive. The rooms are large and comfortable (no coffee maker though, boo hoo) and we actually got a view of the strip from the 17th floor this time, very nice.
We were bussed to the Hard Rock for a part for the group. It was in this huge room where they had a band on a stage. The lead singer did impressions of other rock star singers and he was very talented. It was fun, but a little odd for a business ice breaker. So loud you could hardly talk. Next day, shopping for me. Had sushi at RA at the Fashion Show Mall. The rolls were very good. That night we went to the top of Mandalay Bay to the Foundation for the House of Blues club. A private club that one of our friends had a membership to. This place had the most incredible views of the strip. Straight up the middle about 40 stories up. We didn't eat but our friends said their dinner was wonderful. Next day DH and I went back to RA. He had to try the lobster/shrimp roll that I was crazy about from the day before. We also had the Viva Las VEgas roll and hard to tell which one was better. Then we strolled up the strip. Saw the new addition to Ceasars Mall. Quite amazing and right off of the strip entrance. We then had a glass of wine about 3 pm at La Bon Ami at Paris so we could watch the fountains. We were lucky to snag two stools at the bar. It was very nice to sit there and enjoy the ambiance and the fountains. Lovely. Then we stopped off at the Ivory Coast to engage in some "cheap" gambling. Checked out Margaritaville, that place was hopping at 4 in the pm. Then finally made it back up to the Mandalay Bay. We had 8:30 reservations to see the Man himself, TOM JONES. We loved him. Great show and he is a hunky, virile man. No wonder women through panties at him. We had a great time, Tom put on a very good show. OH, yea, before that we had dinner at EMerils Fish house. It was good. OK, very good. I had the red fish over chopped roasted vegetables. So, actually it was a rather low key trip for us. We were in bed by 10 or 10:30 each night. DH has been fighting bronchitus, so NO crazy partying or excess, which was fine. In fact the whole trip was in moderations: not too much eating, drinking, gambling, hard core partying going on, and I think that is why I enjoyed this trip more than any other. So, that's it. That town has something for everyone... |
Hey, Heavens, thank for report! So in a month from now I'll find the same old, same old... ;)
I miss the coffeemakers in-room too, I am so used to a cup first thing in the morning! Should I fight the addiction, get dressed for breakfast or bring a coil? Tough choice :) |
Thanks Heavens!
Did you mean you had drinks at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris? If not I'm not familiar with Le Bon Ami, where is it located? Thanks! |
Thanks for the report.
Really now girls, throw on some sweats and go downstairs for a cup of coffee. Nobody's looking ;-) |
You know, I like my coffee BEFORE I do anything else. While I am dressing, putting on makeup. To have the coffee after all is said and done is just a bit anti climatic. But, I adjusted. When in Rome, si? But next time, I am taking the travel pot. Sorry...
Yes, Stormygirl, it is MON...I was pretty close, don't ya think??? Oh yea, and for shopping, Vegas rocks. Did not make it to the new Alladin mall. That and Havana Nights are on my list for the next trip... |
