The Bellagio welcomes children into the hotel. They do not welcome children in the restaurants at night, anywhere in the casino at any time.Strollers are not allowed in the casinos although last week I saw a couple. They have 5 pools and there were some young children with their parents.I think that if you have to take your children to LV with you, taking a nanny is a great idea, that way you can go downstairs at night and the kids and the nanny can watch movies and have dinner in the room. And I would definitely prefer the atmosphere of Bellagio or the Venetian to the circus that is the Excalibur and those loud busy places.

Dr. Laura (like a bad cold we can't get rid of you).
Obviously you were so busy blustering with self-righteous indignation that you didn't read my post and reply to you very carefully. I am a STAY-AT-HOME-MOTHER!!! I have a college-student/nanny that comes in to help me with my kids a few hours a week. If you consider that pawning off your kids on someone else, then you obviously have no idea what being a full-time parent means. Minus those few hours a week, I am with my children from the time they wake up in the morning until they go to bed at night 7 days a week. I wouldn't do anything else. I love being with my children. So spare me your holier-than-thou comments when you don't know the first thing about me.

Secondly I do not "frequent" Las Vegas. My husband and I haven't been there together in over 5 years. Last year I went for a "girls weekend" with my sister while the kids spent time at home with Daddy, and once the year before that, I went with my oldest son (youngest wasn't born yet) and met my parents who live near there. Yes we stayed at Bellagio. The first time I roomed with my parents who had comped rooms. The second time with my sister, we had a lower rate there than was offered at Paris, Mandalay Bay, among others. Just because I am a savvy consumer, doesn't mean I am rich. (I'm definitely not).

Do you even go on vacation? Do you know the cost of a decent hotel in cities in So. CA? You can get 2 rooms in Las Vegas at a nice hotel for the same price as 1 room at lots of other comparable resorts in other cities. Also, we were only there for THREE nights! It's not like we moved in.

Why don't you get a life instead of blasting other people's? You should be embarrassed at how juvenile you sound.

Dr. Laura (or should I call you pseudo-doc with a HUGE chip on your shoulder):

Sandy didn't say anything frequenting Vegas, she simply said she usually stays at Bellagio when she goes. For all you know she's only visited 3 times since Bellagio opened, and stayed there each time. You also continue to suggest her nanny is raising her kids (perhaps your parents should've used one to raise you since they didn't seem to do that great a job themselves). Do you even read the posts? She answered that she uses a nanny a couple times a week to help with the kids. I certainly wouldn't call that raising them. She never said how long she's been using the nanny either, so your assumption that she's had one since her babies were born is unjustified. She hasn't said one way or the other; she may have only hired the girl a couple months ago. You seem to read a lot into what isn't said, always slanting it to fit whatever morality lecture you want to burden everyone here with.

Unlike you and your assumptions about Sandy, my opinions of you are based on what you have actually said. You are a self-righteous, bitter, obnoxious, judgemental, eager-to-wag-the-finger big mouth.

Why does Sandy's opening sentence open her up to criticism by you? Only because you like to criticize. Her report was informative, particularly to those in similar situations (which it is clear to see, after reading all the posts, there are quite a few). She detailed her experience in Las Vegas, and gave concrete reasons why the Venetian wasn't worth the money. That was the purpose of her post, and she did it effectively.

Whether she has a ton of money or scrimped and saved to afford this as a once-a-year vacation is beside the point (I noticed it was YOU who bragged about how much money you make, not her!). But that doesn't matter. This board isn't simply for those in the lowest economic levels, it is for everyone interested in travel, regardless of their economic situation. Some on the board are loaded, others aren't. The wealthy have just as much right to discuss travel here as the less-fortunate. You don't even comment on the purpose of her report (inferior service at Venetian) but instead use this forum as an opportunity to bash her personally (without knowing much about her, and reading too much into the little information you do have).

The only thing I find unfortunate is that people like you take up space on this board, ranting and raving and spewing your malicious opinions, in total contrast to the purpose of the board. It's a travel board. Sandy was talking about travel. You want to talk about the evils of having a nanny, go to a parenting board or start your own "Anti-Nannies" board. But if you stay on this board, please do us all a favor and stick to the topic: TRAVEL.

Well Sandy, it looks like you replied to the doc while I was typing my response. Good for you. I was afraid she may have bullied you away from the boards.

Your post was informative, and obviously a lot of people got good information from it. Please continue to post and just ignore those who use this as a podium for their agendas. There really are those of us out there who read the boards for information on travel, and we appreciate your input and advice.
