Las Vegas - Treasure Island

I'm planning to go to Las Vegas next month with my children 17, 14 & 10 years old. Can you give some opinions on Treasure Island Hotel.
Great location. We were in Vegas this weekend. The Venetian across the street is now opened and nice to tour around. Go upstairs and see the can and mall areas.Fashion Mall is next door to Treasure Island if you have daughters and you are right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Poor is not that great. Mirage or Flamingo Hilton has a nice pool area. Plenty of food choices around for the kids. Prepare to stay up late and enjoy the strip at night when it cools down to a balmy 90 degrees. E-mail me if needed. I think they would enjoy the Mystere show there. Make sure you walk down to the Bellagio and watch their fountain show. The art gallery at the Bellagio is wonderful. Kids aren't allowed though in that hotel unless you stay there.

Treasure Island is one of my most favorite hotels in Las Vegas and it's perfect for your kid's age group since the Pirate theme won't scare them. The buffet there has GREAT food and the prices are among the lowest for a buffet these days, starting at around 5.95 if I recall. The pool at Treasure Island is not as grand as some of the others but it's still very nice and had a large jacuzzi. The pool attendants are VERY courteous, pulling up chaise lounges and handing you towels the second you walk up to the pool entrance. The down side to Treasure Island was the thin walls. We could hear all kinds of "things" going on with our neighbors if you know what I mean. But if you can get past that, the rooms are very pretty and the view of the strip from our room which faced south was awesome especially at sunset when the strip is lighting up. Have fun!!

Treasure Island is fine, but you might think about the Mirage which is connected both physically and financially with Treasure Island. The Mirage is more plush with better pool facilities. The buffet at Treasure Island is good, but the buffet at Mirage is a real knock out especially for hungry kids.
One other thing is you really should shop around. The fact is there is not that much difference between strip hotels. There are great deals out there especially if you go on weekdays. We stayed at Ceasar's Place for $89/day recently. Look in the LA Times Sunday Calendar section for deals.

We stayed there 2 yrs ago, and I thought it was very nice. Rooms were clean and we had a nice view. As stated above the Mall is next door. When we were there Mystere (Cirque de Soleil) was the show...one word...EXCELLANT (but if you are interested books tkts now - we did that b4 our airfare) !! In addition the Pirate Show in front of the hotel (assuming they still do), was fun and done a few times in the day.

We have taken our teen to Vegas twice. We recommend the Monte Carlo for several reasons. It's a central location to many big casinos. They have a wonderful pool area, fast food court, and a huge gameworks place across the street. They can also rock climb there. Our teens cruised the other hotels but liked the more mature theme of the Monte Carlo. It was not full of little kids. Also, the kids enjoyed having a great dinner in the brewery with us. They thought the live band was a kick. Their wave pool is also an attraction as well as the Lance Burton magic show at the hotel.
