Las Vegas to Grand Canyon

What advice might anyone have about a Grand Canyon Tour from Las Vegas? I don't think I want to waste a whole day but I need ideas.
Thanks

Pay out some major bucks for a plane or helicopter tour. Check with the hotel you're staying in & plan it in advance as far as possible. To drive there non-stop one way is about five to six hours. And to drive there & not stay overnight (which takes months of advanced planning) is a total waste of time.

Is motion sickness a problem with a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon?

It doesn't take months of advance planning to stay in the Grand Canyone. I got a reservation at Grand Angel two days before arrival.

I visited the Grand Canyon in October and if you intend to drive from LV and back in one day you are NOT giving yourself time enough for the privilage of gazing upon one the 7 wonders of the world. A ranger told a group of us 95% of the GC visitors stay 3 hours. Give yourself more time. You will never regret it. Dress for ANY weather. Stay hydrated. Hike a portion (or all) of the rim trail and if possible go to Desert View. The views along the way are spectacular. It can be an emotional place. I get choked up just posting this.

Re: motion sickness, I get sick on anything that moves - planes, boats, cars etc, but had no trouble with two helicopter flights (including one over the Grand Canyon, about a 15 min flight from recollection). The motion seems to be quite different from a plane. Good luck, and take a bag with you in case of emergency.

No disrespect intended, but getting reservations at the Grand Canyon several days before arrival, especially during high season, is pure & simple LUCK, based on decades of travel experience. NEVER travel gambling on LUCK. Your options will be very limited.
