Hi ellen, You're right. We'll be at Zion, Bryce and the North Rim of the GC, where none of the rooms have coffee makers. Some of the categories do, but not the ones we are staying in.

Hmmm...Time to start looking at cheap, small coffee makers.

We carry on luggage only, but it still shouldn't be a problem to get a small one in my backpack. Will the glass carafe give the baggage checkers a heart attack?

Just buy one at Walmart, Target, etc after you land - at Flagstaff or whatever town you drive through.

If you have friends who travel weekly, have them collect the little packets in hotel rooms still with coffeemakers. I have a collection in the mountains of Starbucks, etc. coffee packs from hotel rooms. I don't drink coffee but it's easy for guest to toss the hotel coffee pack in the coffeemaker and make a couple of cups of coffee.

Nope, they didn't even blink. Beforehand, i had mentioned it to my pilot neighbor who said its done all the time. He said other appliances are also carried on, the other most popular being blenders. Who knew! LOL

Thanks everyone. I just looked and there are some really cute little dual one cup jobs that brew into thermal cups. I might end up getting something that can be used again as we plan to take more of these road trips in the future.

Sounds like a wonderful solution. That way you can bring perfectly delicious grindz too!

The MGM Signature is an excellent hotel and has them. So does Trump and Vdara, and the Four Seasons. I really like a coffee maker in my hotel room!

Funny how the more expensive the room, the less you seem to get--i.e. coffeemaker, Internet, fridge.

Going to be at Bill's next month-- yea!

Kind of defies the get-what-you-pay for thing. I might understand the logic in casino hotels, where they really don't want you in your room much anyway. But it's true everywhere. It also blows my mind that in Vegas you even have to pay to use the workout facilities. Heck, I wanted to use the elypitcal at when I was staying at the Venetian and they were going to charge me $30.

Just booked Bally's for $80. For one night it will be fine. Good location. We'll deal with the coffee situaton. Addiction is a killer. Thanks for the tips.

You will find overpriced coffee in Bally's lobby.

Suggestion: pack filters, coffee, and cups, and go to Walgreen's (near MGM Grand) and buy a 4-cup coffee maker for $9.99. The coffee pot will pay for itself in no time.

Those who want a cup of coffee the minute they get up without getting dressed and going to the lobby to buy it will understand this suggestion. Other's won't.

Just stayed at the Paris. They've got them in the Red Rooms, for sure.

I HAVE to have my coffee to get my eyes open and I absolutely refuse to stay at any hotel regardless of the price that does not have in room coffee.
Last time in Vegas, we even went out and purchased a coffee maker and coffee so I could have my morning pick me up.
I want it NOW, NOT after my shower, make-up and hair do but before.

Ordering coffee from room service would be expensive for what you need. Unless you plan on ordering a full breakfast. My experience with Las Vegas room service has not been stellar. I do think they just want to encourage you to get out of your room, and gamble.

I'm one of those folks who wants a cup of coffee while I'm in my PJs, just waking up. I will not go down to the lobby, or wait for room service.

Taking a small coffeemaker with you sounds like a great idea.

$80 per night at Bally's sounds high. We paid about half that. Good location on the strip. Big rooms but very dated.
