If you are stopping in the hotels to look around...1 full day.

If you are just walking from Venetian to the Mandalay Bay...1 hour

many thanks...!
I know is this a silly question but here goes...is the Venetian on the southern part of the strip??
and also if I only had time to walk half the strip... which half is preferable... more to see and shop and more exciting....
thanks again...

the shopping is expensive more or less. The Forum Shops at Caesars are very nice and is probably the largest shopping area.

The question you are asking is difficult, as it is very subjective (and I am sure that you realize that).

I like the area from the Aladdin to the Venetian (south). My favorite place to stop for lunch is Mon Ami Gabi in Paris. I love sitting outside--right across the street from the Bellagio fountain.

Maps are your friend. ;)

It's about 4 miles from Mandalay Bay to the Stratosphere.

There's really no sense in "walking the strip", even in segments. Look at the area you'll be in and pick a few casinos/malls to visit that interest you and visit those. You can get high-end shopping at Caesar's, Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian. More middle shopping at Aladdin and Fashion Show mall. If you want art, there are galleries (for pay) at Venetian and Bellagio. Car museum at Imperial Palace. Animals at Mirage and Mandalay Bay and MGM and Flamingo. Flowers/gardens at Bellagio.

There's lots to see and do everywhere in Vegas. Choosing which YOU want to do is the hard part, and a guidebook can help tremendously in narrowing things down. Then, it's easy to come back with specific questions that we can help with.

If you want just to walk (for the sake of walking) without stopping at any place, from Venetian toward Tropicana. Venetian is kinda in the middle of the strip - haven't you looked at the map on the internet?

But I bet you won't be just walking, you'll want to visit all those nice places on both sides of the strip.

It all depends on how much you stop while you're walking. The entire Strip from the Stratosphere to the Mandalay Bay is pretty far. If you make stops, it will probably take you all day just to walk PART of the Strip. You should just do it in portions. As you can tell, most people like the "better" part of the Strip from Mandalay Bay to the Venetian.
