Las Vegas show Tickets
My trip to LV is approaching soon. 7 June. 2006. I am wondering about purchasing show tickets prior to going.(?) Some people speak of getting them for half price if I were to wait till I get there? I am wondering about the older shows like Jubilee of the one at the Tropicana. We also would like to see one Cirque show. Either La Reve or the other one. (Ka)
Also would I make dinner reservations Now at that Bon ami restaurant? They say it is very busy. Thanks.

You can definitely get half-price tickets for Jubilee. There are 2 booths, one in the Coke bottle by MGM and the other by the Harley Cafe near Aladdin. They open in the afternoon and sell tickets for that night's shows. They will NOT have discount tickets for any of the Cirque shows!

Diann,
Definitely make dinner reservations now. You can always cancel them later with no penalty. On the show tickets, for the big shows (especially any Cirque) I always buy ahead. But Christie is right and I also check the booths to see what they have available. You can get some great bargains!
I usually go to lasvegas.com for who's going to be in town. They have good reviews, are pretty complete and list prices with options to purchase right there.
I just went up on lasvegas.com and looked through the headliner listings. You're going to have a lot to choose from. A few names playing are Celine Dion, David Copperfield, Reba McEntire, Wayne Newton, adn many more. I'm sure you'll find something you will enjoy.
The same site also has listings for restaurants. You can sort by price, casino, cuisine, or location. It helps me everytime I'm heading there. Also tripadvisor.com is good for cross referencing. I often use OpenTable for on-line restaurant reservations and have never had a bad experience.
Enjoy your trip!

Thanks. I just went to vegas4locals.com where I printed out coupons. Buy one get one free. They are redemable at the location where the show is actually playing. For example, Frank & Barbara the concert that never Was. It is at the Riviera and it state you would purcase at there box office. Now I am assuming these are only valid if they are not sold out at a regular price.(??) I find this difficult as I am not a real planner or a person who likes to have a lot of "structure" when on vacation. But it looks like it will be a necessity for Vegas land. At such and such a time I am doing this or that. I guess one or 2 nights is o.k since I don't have a choice. Thanks again.

ChristieP,
Yes I realize this (ho-hum)The shows which feature the coupons cannot be this way. Only the main ones, celine, blue man or Cirque shows. Which Cirque show would you recommend. It would seem there are many opinions. I am leaning towards Mystere. "O" is not an option so that leave Le Reve or Ka. Thanks.

CinFan,
(Is this cinncinatti Fan?) What is "whats on?" Where is it? I didn't see that at all. Funny we don't gamble so I am hoping 6 days will not be to long of a time there. I am concerned about filling in time now since someone proposed it was a long time to spend in Vegas with no gambling to speak of. Of course some machines we would do. I am sure we will have a great time. Even if we just hang out at the pool all day.

^ Cyn City as in Vegas and a little play on words...
You can find "What's On" in any moderate to major Hotel Room or cab or the LAS airport (there is a smaller version called 24/7).
If you don't want to gamble much, this rag can at least point you in another direction.
Many ppl come here and never drop a dime in a machine - thus the expensive names in shows and dinning - but often cheaper than LA or other large cities in other western USA cities.
You wont have a hard time finding one if you are looking for it. Many ppl don't and it is kind of a nice "insider" mag... but those who come often, know this magazine.
As for 6 days in Vegas, you can stretch it by poolside [an entire day], shopping, try the natural state parks (Valley of Fire)... if you try everything or anything but gambling, you really CAN make a week of the Vegas area.
Most just get burned out by the casinos.
If you want to ask specific questions about the area email me at [email protected]

I'm honestly not a fan of Cirque shows, and neither is my hubby. Whe we're in Vegas, we try to catch a headliner comedian. So far, we've seen Jay Leno (EXCELLENT!), Jerry Seinfeld and George Carlin. I would really love to see Wayne Brady...
The show that offer coupons are usually the cheap ones, or the ones that have been out for a LONG time. Even then, if you walk up to ANY Vegas show box office 1 hour before the show starts, you'll be stuck WAY in the back. You MUST plan even a little bit ahead to get IN to a show, and also to get a good seat. Yeah, it kind of cramps your style, I guess, but that's the way Vegas works.

Not sure if I should start a new one. Has anyone seen a new cirque show playing at the Mirage? They are offering discount tickets. "Beatles" I think is the name. Any reviews on this one yet or is it still to new? Thanks.

Have you gone to Ticketmaster's website and tried to buy any of the Cirque shows? I'm going to LV the week after you are and even a week ago all I saw left were limited view tix for most of those shows.

No I have been on the usairways web page and lasvegas.com and there seems to be no problem. All were avaiable I do not use ticketmaster at all. One La Reve is sold out. I am interested in "O" and if you go to the hotels web site many seats are available.

I ss you are correct... I guess when I was looking for tix for myself for O in particular I found mostly WET seats rather than limited view seats available.
My brother and sister in law, completely uninterested in such productions went to O on a whim recently and raved about it.

I live in Las Vegas and have seen almost all the Cirque shows. If you like Celine Dion, that is a terrific show with parts of Cirque in it. "O" is very good as is Mystere. I didn't care for "Ka" myself. La Reve is supposed to be good, haven't seen it. These shows you won't get discounts so buy ahead.
