Las Vegas rooms - help me compare these

Who: couple
When: August
What: 1st trip to Vegas
Why: Husband's b-day

We've narrowed things to either the Bellagio or Venetian. Help me figure out where to get the best room. I am a little unsure of the Venetian (some reports say the rooms are large but outdated - I don't want that) but that is where I would prefer to stay (due to theming and they have restaurants and shows we want to see). Does the tower have nicer rooms??

Thanks for the help!

I was at the Venetian a few months ago. The rooms were fine. The hotel has a good selection of restaurants. The Canyon Ranch spa is a superb facility. I would absolutely stay there again.

I was at the Venetian for New Year's Weekend, so probably one of the most crowded times of the year. The Venetian rooms are very nice and large. I can't imagine you'd be disappointed at either.

The Bellagio common areas (casino, lobbies, restaurants) were crazy crowded and difficult to navigate around because of so many people...again probably due to the Holiday. But if I had to choose again, I'd stay at the Venetian.

But definitely go see Cirque du Soleil's "O" at the Bellagio. It was fantastic!

does the venetian still have scented air? very icky - but I am very scent sensative, others might not notice or care.

stumpworks73 Jun 26th, 2007 09:49 AM

Can't say I noticed or had anybody I was with comment on scented air.

I'm so glad to hear the good comments about the Venetian!
I'm glad someone brought up the scented air...that was something else I was curious about.

I have been in the Venetian many times, and the air is always scented to strong for my husband and I. I don't mind a light scent, but there it is overkill.

I've stayed at the Venetian 3 times for 5 days at a time each. Never noticed scented air (and I'm not a smoker, and do have a pretty sharp 'sniffer').

What does it smell like?

Hands down Bellagio..
Venetian is worn and needs updated..the rooms are large but Bellagio, IMO is so much nicer..
You should try the Wynn, they are having great specials via their website.

We stayed at the Venetian in April. The lobby air is scented; I hated it.

The rooms are large, and the bathrooms are nice: marble, separate tub and shower and separate room for the toilet. You won't get flat screen tv's like some of the other hotels offer. The furniture and carpet were a little worn. The pool area is nice.

The Bellagio is more centrally located than the Venetian.

My favorite hotel was the Wynn; I'd love to stay there next time I visit Las Vegas.

Honestly - you will be fine with either. I am a fan of the Ventian but have stayed at both and think either is a great choice. Dh has stayed at the Wynn, I have only dined there - but he was not happy - having said that - it was when they first opened and he had issues with hot water et et - but have never heard anything like that since.
Book your shows in advance and make resturant reservations as well in advance as much as possible.

Dawn - Thanks for the advice re. shows and restaurants.
Thanks everyone!

dawnnoelm Jun 26th, 2007 05:43 PM

You are most welcome!

Our favorite shows in Vegas are Danny Gans (amazing!) Blue Man (not for everyone) Phantom (I was surprised as I have seen in several times but really enjoyed it here - good special effects)Love is very popular we liked it "okay" but we were both very tired so I think that impacted it. Dh loved "O"

As far as resturants - we love BOA - great service. The resturants at the Wynn are amazing.. I was not that impressed with TOA - dh really liked it though. Aqua Knox at the Ventian has great seafood... I love Vegas :-)

I have stayed at both and thought they were both nice. The Venetian's rooms didn't seem outdated or worn to me (at least not the one I had). I have no strong preference in terms of common areas, either--except I do think the Bellagio has a nicer pool area.

Stayed at Venetian a few months ago. Thought the rooms in the Venezia tower were fine, bathroom just gorgeous, but yes, a little dated, time for an update! I'd stayed there when the Venezia tower first opened and was bowled over, so was surprised that the rooms weren't quite so impressive to me just 4 or 5 years later...In Vegas, newer's definitely better, IMO.

p.s.: after seeing the Wynn, wished we'd stayed there.

One word: Wynn

It's the best property on the Strip, hands down.

melh Jul 2nd, 2007 09:57 AM

I noticed on Venetian's website that I can reserve a remodeled room and that sounds perfect, so I'll probably go that route. However, I will also sign up for Wynn's deals and if they have a great offer, I might book that.
My only hesitation is that Wynn is even further down the strip and with it being our first trip I wanted to be more central.
Thanks for your thoughts!

TahitiTams Jul 2nd, 2007 11:02 AM

Hi melh..
The Wynn is the next Hotel up from the V..
Do make sure you get a remodeled room if possible..
Do try and stay at the Wynn if you can, its so much better than any hotel on the strip..
Have fun!
