Las Vegas Restauurants

Whenever I have traveled, I,ve always try to take one evening and go to a really nice restaurant. I have been to several 5 star restaurants over the years and know that Las Vegas has a couple. How much can I expect to spend on a nice restaurant in Las Vegas? Any reccomendations on one that is a good value for the dollar?

Don, I doubt it's a 5-star restaurant, but if you like Italian food head to Battista's Hole in the Wall. (I haven't been to Vegas in quite a while; I hope it's still there!) It's a little out of the way, but worth the effort--great Italian food with a warm, friendly atmosphere, great service, and reasonable prices. Enjoy!
Benihana is great, it is near old vegas in the Hilton. There is also a great steak place in NYNY hotel. I/m sure there are many more great ones. Check out Mandalay Bay or Bellagio.

Picasso in Bellagio is one of the best. The tasting menu runs about 90 a person before wine and tip. You will need to make reservations WELL in advance.

My favorites:
Olives in Bellagio
Circo in Bellagio
Emerils in MGM Grand
Spago at Ceasars
Voodoo Cafe and Lounge in the Rio
not sure of exact prices, but not cheap~

Spago at Caesar's is one of my favorite places to eat in Las Vegas: the food's great and the setting is terrific, especially if you're at one of the "patio" tables in the Forum Shops. Like being outside, only without the heat, sun, and bugs. The only caveat is that the tables are very close together on the patio. I'd recommend going for lunch, when it's less crowded, the prices are a lot lower, and the food is just as good.

I'd nix Picasso from my list if I were making one.
Great atmosphere and service, but personally the food didn't strike a harmonious chord with me.
Too chichi for its own good, and I love to eat out at the best restuarants any city has to offer.

Picasso is wonderful (if you can get a reservation) and there is a steak house called Prime (also in Bellagio) which is also very good. I think Picasso is 5 star rated. There is another place in Bellagio called Aqua which we always enjoy and is a little easier to get reservations for.

We like Circo in the Bellagio hotel. It will probably run you about $130-150 with a bottle of wine. I do like Spago also but we have one here in Chicago.

Picasso and Renoir are the only 2 places ranked as five-star restaurants. Four-star ranked restaurants are Napa, Le Cirque and Aqua.

I visited in October, and am going back in March. We had an excellent dinner at the Buccaneer Bay Club in Treasure Island. The food and service were both top-notch. In fact, I've already made a reservation for dinner when we return.

If you dine at Picasso ask for a window table when you make your reservation. You will have a view of the fountains. They are spectacular.

Don, Lynne was kidding about Battista's Hole in the Wall. It's sort of like an Olive Garden but with tackier decor, about half as much class, and the food isn't nearly as good. Oh, but I guess they still do give you free wine -- if you're into the $1.99 a screwtop bottle stuff. Avoid it. MacDonald's would be a step up. Lynne, a question: have you ever eaten in a place that has tablecloths?
