dandj- If you get to the Rio to visit the Voodoo Lounge, make sure you arrive or leave in time to see the "Mardi Gras Parade". It happens on the hour and you cannot miss it. It is ON THE CEILING! YES- the floats come out and run along the ceiling! Too fun!

If I could only choose one of each of those things I wouldn't go to Vegas! The beauty of Vegas for me is that you have dozens of choices for Gambling, eating, shopping, shows, etc all within walking distance of one another.

Ani Jan 31st, 2008 04:24 PM

Excellent point miku!

dandj Feb 5th, 2008 12:14 PM

sarge56,

Sounds fun. we will check it out.
I hope it is over the top and gaudi, just like Vegas should be,

sarge56 Feb 5th, 2008 03:01 PM

Oh, it is- literally- over the top! hahaha

Like Vegas AND New Orleans combined!

Happy Fat Tuesday!!!

Ani Feb 5th, 2008 03:07 PM

Oh it is fun...and a great place to be during the parade in the sky is at the mexican restaurant-sorry cant remember the name. Have a drink at the bar, the turn around to the balcony and get some beads.

manduss Feb 16th, 2008 05:44 PM

1. Caesars Palace (with a bit of time at the Pussy Cat Dolls Casino section even though the Blackjack rules could be better).

2. Caesars Palace (Augustus or Palace Towers). They are not the basic rooms, but I normally get the rooms comped and they have jacuzzis.

3. room service??? Part of the reason to go to Vegas is to eat an any number of great restaurants. Stack at the Mirage is one of my favorites.

4. There are so many good options, but Zuri at MGM Grand is at the top of my list. If you want a lounge with live entertainment, then the Fontana Lounge at the Bellagio is it. If you mean ultralounge or club, Voodoo Lounge on top of the Rio is great (and has an amazing view of the Strip).

5. Are you talking about actually swimming or just lounging and people watching? Very few places are good for swimming. As for lounging, BARE at the Mirage is nice.

6. Qua at Caesars.

7. If you can only see one show, Jubilee! is the quintessential Vegas show, but, much like the restaurants, limiting it to one is kind of pointless if you are in Vegas.

8. Shop? Fashion Show Mall I guess, but major shopping is not part of my Vegas itinerary.

9. I rarely rent a car in Vegas anymore and consider the various rental car agencies to be virtually interchangeable.

10. The one that gets me there nonstop for the cheapest price at a reasonable time. Your departure city will have a great impact on this. For me it is either USAir or SouthWest.

Since you are going on only your second trip, I bet there are a lot of Vegas basics that you still need to experience. The Masquerade Show in the Sky at the Rio was already mentioned. Have you seen the Fremont Street Experience? How about The Sirens of TI?
What are some of the things you particularly enjoyed from your first trip? What types of dining and entertainment do you usually enjoy?

I think two people mentioned Frontier --- I am sorry to inform them that it closed almost two years ago, though I really enjoyed staying there too. It was the epitomy of a scuzy hole in the wall with 5-star room service -- and actually a very beautiful swimming pool. You could actually stay there for $50./night. Going up in its place -- the "six-star" New York Plaza taht probably will charge $1200..night. What a crying shame.

Tess Mar 11th, 2008 06:31 PM

We were talking about flying Frontier Airlines :-)
