Las Vegas question?

Which is preferred the most. Circus Circus or Aladdin. My husband and I are going for our wedding anniversary.
Thanks all.

Of the two, Aladdin. Circus Circus is a complete, utter dump. Aladdin is currently being re-tooled and re-themed and will be a Planet Hollywood resort within the next 12 months. Eeeeewwwwww.

But since you're going for your anniversary, why be cheap? Why not splurge on one of the luxury properties like Bellagio, the Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Caesar's Palace or the Mirage? Much, much, MUCH better choices for a special celebration.

I agree with rjw, as per the usual.

Both aren't worth it. Find a good rate at any of those suggestions. You're bound to have a better time.

We stayed at Bellagio when we visited Vegas in May. Although we didn't stay at other hotels, from what I could tell by visiting them, Bellagio would still be the top choice IMHO. If $$ is an issue, try signing up at Bellagio's website and you will receive notifications when they have specials, such as $139/night with fountain view. Or Four Seasons if you want somewhere quieter, but its location is not central on the strip.

I totally agree with the previous post. If it's for your anniversary, it's okay to splurge a little. If I had to choose between the two you are considering, I would say Aladdin, which opened I believe just a few years ago. When it comes to hotels, my philosophy is when in doubt, choose the newer one.

Go to www.cheapovegas.com and read the reviews. They absolutely HATE Circus Circus because of all the "hoardes of screaming kids." That's certainly NOT the place I'd want to spend MY wedding anniversary...

Registering with the hotel websites is always a great idea. They send you e-mails of their seasonal specials. Checking with cheapovegas.com is also very valuable (and always good for a chuckle or two).

This is my advice: Narrow it down to precise dates and a few properties, then check the rates on the Internet. THEN, call the hotels directly; talk directly with Reservations and see if they can offer anything special for your anniversary. Even with these very popular places, you just never know-- anything's possible. If the Internet rates are cheaper, get off the phone and reserve on the Internet. Best of luck!

There is no comparison between the two. As others put it, Circus Circus is a dump. The Aladdin is almost brand new with a very nice shopping mall and excellent location on the strip. It's comparing a 1* to a 4*

Between those 2 choices, definitely Aladdin. We just got back and stayed at Ballys on Oct 10-12. We spent alot of time at Aladdin. The mall is beautiful with nice stores and good restaurants. We had fun in their casino. It is very centrally located. I agree that if you can afford Bellagio or Venetian they would be better, but Aladdin seemed very nice.

I have a three year old toddler we are traveling with. I know that most Las Vegas hotels are not toddler friendly. Does anyone have any suggestions over the hotels I have picked so far......Monte Carlo is one and the Mirage is another??? Or any other suggestions please?

rjw_lgb_ca Oct 24th, 2003 07:49 AM

Well, the Mirage has all that wild animal stuff and a cool pool (but I'm not sure kids are welcome at the pool).... The Monte Carlo is a little more middle-market than the Mirage, which would suggest to me a bit more kid-friendliness. Excalibur and Circus Circus are explicitly more kid-oriented, but they're real dumps. How about New York New York?

We really like Ballys for its central location. We get nice upgraded accommodations at very reasonable rates whenever we go.

Mirage has a kiddie pool.
