Las Vegas: Monte Carlo or Paris?

Hi there - I see that both the Monte Carlo and Paris have great rates right before Thanksgiving. Which one would you recommend and why? Also is the Siegfried and Roy show worth the cost?

S&R: Ha! What a joke. Do a search here and you'll find 10 negative to every positive review. It's sooo 1980's. and so inferior to what's available now.

Paris is better than MC. Better casino, better theme, better food, better rooms, better location....hmmmm....what else is there?

I find Paris to be more "dramatic" than MC. I like the shops better there, the restaurants, the buffet (they take reservations), etc. One cool thing about MC is they have a tram to Bellagio so if you think you'll be hanging out at Bellagio a lot, I'd stay at MC. One thing about Paris is you have to be into the phony-French schtick otherwise you'll find it tacky and obnoxious.

MC is simple and slightly elegant but relatively cheesy to Caesar's and Bellagio which have a similar ambiance/theme but much better.

If you play BJ, MC is much much better than Paris - they have better rules and lower minimums on more tables. All Park Place properties are starting to really stink for BJ.

The real answer is:it depends what your into and what you'll be doing in Vegas. If you do stay at Paris, request a "P" room as they are on the corners and larger. You shouldn't have to pay a higher rate but that may have changed.

Also agree PARIS! Monte Carlo is nice, but Paris has more to offer and I like the ambience and theme of the hotel vs. the Monte Carlo which has little theme
Paris is generally regarded higher than MC, although you will find some that like each more than the other.

Forget about S+R, it's HORRIBLE!! (unless you've never seen ANY magic show)

Do go see: Mystere, O, Blue Man Group (if you're <40 yrs old), Danny Gans (if you're > 40 years old).
I really enjoyed Siegfried and Roy. I do agree it is overpriced but I still enjoyed every minute of it, especially the animals.

Gwen,
If you want to see a magic show go see S & R or even one of the lower priced magic shows like the one at the Tropicana. For the hotels, you'll find that you spend very little time in your room, so to me, its a toss up, flip a coin to decide. I do suggest 'O' at the Bellagio. Worth the $100.00 ticket price. You'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Save your money on Siegfried & Roy and check out Mystere instead. Worth every nickel. Waaayy Better show than Siegfried & Roy. Check out the reviews on Mystere- www.lvol.com

S & R was a joke. The 'animals' are the white tigers and they are on stage for about 6 minutes during a 2 hour show. They do the same 2 tricks over and over, just making different things disappear or get sawed in half. Actually, the show is just an excuse for them to change their clothes 15 times in 2 hours. I think they beat Cher for the costume change record. I wouldn't see her again for that reason either. What a waste! O, Mystere, Danny Gans--all wonderful. I also pick the Paris over the Monte Carlo. The bathrooms are gorgeous.
