Looking for feedback from anyone who has stayed at the Mandalay Bay recently

I am happy to give you your laugh for the day - unfortunately, I am new at this and made a mistake -

It's a very nice property, but too far away from all the other places for me. I prefer the other end of the strip where you can easily walk to a number of different hotels/casinos/restaurants, etc.

It really depends what you're looking for. Without more details it's easy to give bad advice! Overall, I think the area around Caesar's is a bit more central but Mandalay certainly has its act together and it is huge, so there is much to do.

I stayed there late last August with a group of friends. We spent the first night (Thursday) at The Hotel. It was very nice. Everything was new and it had that trendy boutique look/feel. On Friday we had booked a 2nd room for more arriving guests and they upgraded us to a penthouse at MB (separate from The Hotel). They probably figured they could upgrade us to one penthouse then rent out our 2 rooms and make more money. Anyway, The room was very big and in decent shape. However considering it was a penthouse, it was disappointing. There wasn't much decor in the living room area other than somewhat tired looking furniture and a regular sized tv. The pool at the hotel is as good as advertised. The pool area is huge and has sandy beach areas as well as a wave pool and "lazy river". I went on Thursday afternoon and it was less than half full, but I went back on Sunday afternoon and you couldn't move. The casino is decent. Fairly large and table limits seemed on par with the other major hotels on the strip. The buffet was pretty good and had a decent though not great prime rib for dinner. As for the distance to other hotels, we took the monorail to Excalibur several times then walked to other hotels on the strip. I didn't mind it much but if you don't want to walk a lot or pay for cabs, it is a bad location. Overall it's a good place to stay. It's nicer than several properties but not in line with Bellagio, Ceasar's, Venetian or Wynn. I wouldn't mind going back, though I'm staying mid strip on an upcoming trip. Hope this is helpful.

Probably not the best location for the first-timer. I, however, stay there as frequently as I can when I go...Great pool & restaurants, as well as other amenities.

I think the best thing to have at Mandalay (or Caesars) would be those shoes that have pop-out rollerwheels. The walk from the casino to Shark Reef (or the food court, advertised with giant signs, but not yet opened!)on tile floors is a killer...
