Las Vegas in March

We are staying at the Bellagio, no car. What do we not miss? Any great Sushi resturants? Will it be warm enough to be by a pool? What other resturants are good? Thanks for your input.

Don't miss the Bellagio Fountains...you won't...they are right there. Walk up and down the strip at night. All the stores for shopping at Caesars and Aladdin. It might be chilly and windy...yes i know it will...i was there at Easter last year and i was cold. PF Changs in Aladdin is so good. I hear the Bellagio, Paris and Aladdin Buffets are not to be missed. My favorite mexican food is La Cantina at Aladdin. I'll let others share their experiences. Don't know about the Sushi. I'll also let others say what their favorite things not to miss are...everyone is different but my favorite thing to see is the fountains and the strip at night. Have a good trip and give us a report when you get back.

hmmm, it's a little presumptuous to claim with certainty that it will be cold in March. We don't know whether it's early or late March, and March is the transition month for temps in LV.
Average high temps in early March are high 65-67, up to 74-75 in late March.
On average there are a few days in late March each year in the 80's.
When the sun is out, mid-70's can be comfortable poolside weather.
I've been to LV in March on several occasions and have seen a bit of everything from chilly rain to very nice pool weather.
You can check the forecasts before leaving and have a better idea, of course.

There are hundreds of restaurant opinions here in the archives.
Best reviews are at chowhound.com in the Southwest section.
You don't need a car to enjoy LV.
Have a great time.

You will LOVE the Bellagio. We stayed there in March of 1999 for 4 days. The 1st 2 days the weather was in the 80's, lounged and swam in the pool. The next 2 days it was SOOOO cold and the pool was closed, partly 'cus it was cold, partly 'cus it was so windy that the pool furniture was flying all over the place!! March/April weather is very iffy. If you like history/vintage, go north on the Strip to the Peppermill restaurant-------very cool place-----old, featured in many Hollywood films, supposedly the Rat Pack used to hang out there. Kind of a 70's glorified Denny's with a dark, smoky bar in the back complete with fireplaces and little fountains. It's right next to the Riviera----a ways from the Bellagio, but fun to check out if you're on that end of the Strip. Re: the Bellagio----on the days that we couldn't hang out at the pool, my hubby and I discovered the Fontana Bar in the Bellagio-----even tho it was kinda cold, we sat out on the "Italian" veranda overlooking the lake and fountains and had drinks and hors d'oeuvres. We enjoyed "Olives" at the Bellagio as well as the very romantic, very PINK Asian restaurant called "Jasmine". We're not gamblers, but we love Las Vegas. The Bellagio is great, the Strip is fun to walk, the shops are fun, and if you like M&Ms, go to the M&M store----on the strip, south of the Bellagio and opposite side of the strip. Have a great time----even if the pool is closed!! BTW, the fountains at the Bellagio do not go if it's really windy----so just be prepared for the chance that you might not see them do their thing due to windy, inclement weather.

She1ryl: I had posted a question on this website re: The Peppermill Restaurant -----some nice Fodorite responded with the following info: (just in case you're interested)

"The Peppermill opened in 1972 and has had quite a history in its thirty-one years. In addition to the fact that it has appeared in several movies ("Casino" and "Showgirls" being two of the more recent) The Peppermill has also served as a regular hangout for everyone from Frank Sinatra & Liza Minelli (they used to spend quite a bit of time there together) to Robert De Niro (he fell in love with the place during "Casino" filming and, supposedly has frequented the place ever since).

Although many of the surrounding buildings have changed dramatically over the years, to the best of my knowledge The Peppermill has undergone only one rennovation since it was built...and that was to tone down the interior believe it or not!"

Sheryl, we loved our stay at the Bellagio also. You might change your mind about not having a car. It's a long walk just getting through the hotel not to mention from the hotel down to the strip and anywhere else you want to go. I had blisters upon blisters the first time. The next time we rented the cheapest car we could get and valet parked everywhere. It's cheaper than cabs. If you do change your mind, there's a car rental right at the Bellagio (although to reserve in advance and pick your car up at the airport will get you a cheaper rate and will save you the cost of transportation from the airport to the strip.) With regard to sushi, I made a mental note for our next trip to try Todai (in the Aladdin complex). Here's a website with some reviews: http://67.36.169.126/planet99/vegas/...nts/12813.html

We have stayed in Vegas in March as well, and you could get anything. We had beautiful weather and just about every guest (at Mandalay) wanted to be by the pools. Problem was, only one small pool was open. Not a good experience. It also depends what your version of warm is. Coming from Chicago, anything above 60 is pool weather in March!

As for Sushi, Nobu at the Hard Rock is the classic. My husband and I (we are both in our 30's) also love to gamble at the Hard Rock, quite the scene. It is always very crowded, not very big by Vegas standards, but such amazing peopled watching and great music!

We also had an amazing meal at Alize at the top of the Palms. Great views, amazing food...I still rave about the escargot! After, you can go to the Ghost Bar (another great Vegas "scene")without waiting in the ridiculous lines that wrap around the casino.

We have never rented a car in Vegas...can't even imagine!

We stayed at the Paris (right across the street from the Bellagio), found that a car was not needed, your going to be in the middle of the strip, within 15-20 min. walk to either end of the major hotels on the strip. You'll do a lot of walking, but we enjoyed the sights and sounds of the strip while walking. Traffic can be bad at times in Vegas, and unless you use valet parking, you'll do as much walking to and from the parking garages and spend more time as you would just walking to the hotels.

We have tried Todai for sushi and it is very ordinary. Nothing special or tasty at all. Kind of like the generic of sushi. Would rather do without.

Do not need a car. Take good walking shoes. If you are going a ways, take a cab. We always drive to Vegas and then park the car until we leave.

Have fun. It is a great party town.

Stayed at New York, New York last year in March and caught two good pool days out of four. It was very crowded because of spring break & the NCAA tournament, so be prepared.

I would certainly recommend against a rental car in Vegas, especially if you plan to drink.

The Bellagio is in the middle of the strip -- unless you are morbidly obese, you should have no problem walking to almost anywhere on the strip you'd like to go.
