Las Vegas Hotels - recommendations
 

Hello Las Vegas experts!

My wife and I will be in Las Vegas next week for three nights and we are currently considering the following Hotels:

The Linq
The Flamingo
The Golden Nugget
The Alexis Park

We will have a car so would require parking.

I would be grateful for any recommendations or comments about these Hotels .

If you've never been to Las Vegas before you probably want to stay center strip, Flamingo or Linq. Golden Nugget is downtown, and you def don't want Alexis Park which is a tired old place that is convenient only to visiting the Hard Rock Hotel, you'd be driving everywhere else.

Totally agree with Debbie. The Linq is actually pretty much dead-center Strip, so I'd give it a bit of a vote ahead of the Flamingo-- although both have a pretty good location. If you kick in a few bucks more you might try to get a fountain view room at Paris Las Vegas; the theming is actually charming once you get used to it, and it has great restaurants and a very nice casino floor.

NOTE: Your Strip properties are all part of the Caesars family; those resorts still offer free parking. The MGM Mirage properties have initiated daily parking fees, so adjust your travels accordingly (take taxi or Uber to those resorts if you have show or dinner reservations).

Thank you for your advice, will check out the Paris Las Vegas: sounds good. It's always difficult trying to decide on the best accommodation when you know nothing about the area.

A couple of pointers:

-- I don't know if you smoke or not. Even if you do, I'd recommend requesting a non-smoking floor wherever you choose to stay. As it is, you'll need to launder and/or dry clean your clothes when you get back to wash out the cigarette and cigar smoke (some casino floors get VERY smoky).

-- It's beginning to cool down a bit in Vegas, but days can still get hot and the sun can be quite strong, so you should think about doing Strip sightseeing early in the morning or starting at sundown and into the night (distances are LONG on the Strip). The Bellagio fountain show is absolutely best in the evening. One great way to see it is from the outside dining patio at Mon Ami Gabi, a very good French bistro at Paris LV; call NOW to get an outside table at, say, 7:30 PM or 7:45 PM, and sit back and enjoy the 8 PM fountain show with some Veuve Clicquot. My husband and I did just that our first time at Paris LV and it was PERFECT. Even with the drunk street performer out on the sidewalk.

-- If you're seeing any shows, make one of them a Cirque du Soleil production. We've seen <b>Mystère</b>, <b>KÁ</b>, <b>O</b>, <b>LOVE</b> and <b>MJ</b>-- all wonderful. We're going back to Vegas at Thanksgiving to see family (a niece attends UNLV), and we will probably see one of those again.

Thanks again for the great advice.

We are non-smokers so will be keen to minimise the smoke effect!

We are also big francophiles ( like you, I suspect!) so Mon Ami Gabi, Veuve Clicquot and Cirque du Soleil would do us very nicely!

If you want center strip, also consider Bally's. Not as busy as some of the other places, but the rooms are nice and everything is walking distance. Also, unlike Paris, it is closer to the monorail.

We live in the U.K. But have a small apartment in the South of France which we now live in much of the year since we retired a couple of years ago, so it will be interesting to taste the US' s version of French cuisine.
