Do you think it is better to call the hotel for rates rather than go to the internet or Travel Agents? Thanks for your help.
|
I think it's better to call the hotel, check the hotel's website, call a couple of travel agents, search a dozen of internet web-sites and only after that you are ready to make reservation.
Can't you tell we are all travel addicts here :) And the research is half the fun! |
When going to Vegas, I always check the web site first and then call. I have had experiences with both situations being less expensive. Even after you have reservations, it does not hurt to check back weekly or so to see if the rates have changed. They often do.
Have fun! |
Yes, all of the above.

We just got reservations for the Monte Carlo for 3 nights next week. The online rate (the hotel's site) was $65 for Tuesday and Wednesday nights and $95 for Thursday night.
But after calling directly, we were given $75 for the Thursday night. So it pays to call the hotel! |
Bellagio has some great email rates on selected dates in July...I think I remember they were like $139.

Do all of the above and also check rates on booking websites like expedia, etc. LV rates changes all the time and the rates vary quite a bit from source to source. Even after you book, keep checking, if the rates drop, you sometimes can re-book at the lower rate (we've done this).

It is wise to do all of the above to see whic method is the best for getting a good rate.

I just booked a September trip to Treasure Island. They charge one night's deposit, but it's totally refundable a couple days ahead if you need to cancel. The hotel websites give me the most confidence that I'll get the room I want. Read some of the posts from others who have used non-direct reservation services. Sounds like they don't always get what they've reserved. Plus it seems most of those (expedia, travelworm, etc.) require FULL payment in advance, plus a penalty (minimum $25) for any cancellation. Much better to go direct wtih the hotel, but check back weekly. Rates change often. Have fun!
