Las Vegas Hotel-San Remo
 

We are scheduled at this hotel in November- Army Vet Reunion? Anyone stayed there? If you had short stay (first time) what would you suggest not to miss?

If this is your first time to Vegas and it will be a short trip then I would suggest just sticking to the Strip and soaking in all that it has to offer. If you have enough time to make a quick trip to Hoover Dam, that might be nice though. Otherwise on the Strip you have to see the fountains at the Bellagio and go inside to their conservatory. Visit the Paris and have a pastry from their pastry shop (not the bakery...this is good also, but next to it), you could go to the Mirage to Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden, maybe go up top the Stratosphere for great views of the valley or go up the Eiffel Tower, plenty of areas to window shop (the Forum shops, Desert Passage...both have quick shows indoors). Also depending on time maybe you should see a typical Vegas style show. I recommend Splash it is entertaining, won't break the bank and says "Las Vegas".

Be aware that there is a secret price (you get all the way there before you know) to enter the Secret Gardens--if you're spending the money, the aquarium at Mandalay Bay is much better. (However, you can usually see a white tiger at the Mirage--just follow the moving walkways; there are also some at the MGM Grand.)Forum shoppes have a some free shows, such as Atlantis--tacky but fun.
The Sirens of TI show is also tacky but fun (and free), and the Venetian is worth a trip through for the ceiling paintings, Grand Canal and shoppes (the restaurants along the canal are great for people watching). Again, if you want to spend $15 or so, there is usually something great at the Guggenheim there.
San Remo is fine, tho it's been awhile since I stayed there--good sized rooms, clean, nice casino on the ground floor, and if it's still there, the Women of Magic show is supposed to be very good.

Personally, I like the dolphins at Secret Garden more than the Shark Reef at Mandalay. I also had a lot fun at Tusaaud's in the Venetian!

The San Remo is great for location... it is next to the Tropicana, across the street from MGM and corner from NYNY... I did hear in the last few days that it was sold and will be totally renovated, so you may want to check on the construction schedule... hopefully it won't start until after your stay...

Yep, it has been bought by "Hooters".

Hey that reminds me. Whatever happened to Hooter's Airlines that opened a year or two ago to much hoopla? Is it still around?
