Las Vegas Hotel Near Airport

Flying home from vegas at the end of a family vacation (Vegas, G. Canyon, Bryce, Zion). Hoping for advice on a place to stay not far from the airport the night before we leave. Thinking of the Amerisuites, Fairfield Inn or similar (staying at the Hyatt Lake Las Vegas for 3 nights at the start of the trip). Looking for a newer, family friendly place. Thanks.

I was worried about this too. Then we got there and the strip is right by the airport. My husband is a pilot and loved our New York, New York room because you could watch the planes take-off and land. It was only about a 5 minute drive. Cab was cheap.

Mandalay Bay is the closest hotel on the Strip to the airport, I think. They are all only 10-15 minutes from door to door.

You can see the Vegas Airport from the Strip. We usually stay at the Bellagio and its rarely taken us more than 15 minutes by taxi. Vegas is one of the few towns where a trip to the airport isn't a major undertaking.

Have to agree wiyh Ryan. Iransport time from all of the strip hotels to the airport is short.

La Quinta Inn on Paradise is very convenient to the airport. The Hawthorn Suites location behind the Tropicana hotel is an easy drive from the airport and they have some large family units.

Why would anyone intentionally book a hotel 'close to the airport', when it only takes an extra 60-180 seconds to get from Tropicana/Las Vegas Boulevard intersection to the airport versus an 'airport hotel' location?
Even if you stay in the mkiddle of the strip (Paris, etc) and you know to avoid driving on the strip (Koval Lane, Paradise Rd, Swensen), it might add 5-10 minutes to your drive.
Don't stay at a crackerbox hotel ONLY to make getting to the airport easier.

Thanks for all the input. I guess what I really am looking for is a place that's easy to get into and out of instead of a big casino hotel on or near the strip. We're checking in late and checking out early so the first place I thought of was the Amerisuites for the size of the rooms. But there also seem to be some comparable places as far as rates go like a Fairfield Inn or Residence Inn. Of these type of hotels I was hoping to find the newest and most "family friendly" because we're traveling with our two small children. Thanks.

In that case I'd consider the Embassy Suites at 4315 Swensen (next to the Hard Rock Hotel) or the Residence Inn at Hughes Center Drive.
Both are relatively new and very convenient to the airport with the extra space you need.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wound up reserving the Amerisuites for 79.00. The others were $20 to $30 more a night but they did look nice. Has anybody stayed at the Amerisuites? I would consider changing if I made the wrong choice. Thanks again.
