Las Vegas Hotel for family of 6
 

We are planning a trip for this summer that will end in Las Vegas. I am looking for a place to stay that will accomodate 6 of us in 1 room - so a suite. I have been searching and searching and nothing has come up.

I want to be by the action so we can check out all the "cool" places with kids at night and go to Cirque du Soliel's O show (it is the only one playing on the Friday night we are there)

My hopes are to arrive in Las Vegas park check into our hotel and park the rental car and not use it until we head to the airport the next day.

We have stayed a few times at the Marriott timeshare on the strip.

It has a full kitchen and you can get up to 3 bedrooms.

It is a non-gaming hotel. Not a great pool - and there was a LOT of construction going on when we stayed there in March of last year.

you might consider 2 standard adjoining rooms. Call the hotel directly to book if that's the plan. IF you want to go to O at Bellagio (FYI it's over $100/ticket), you might consider a hotel walking distance like Ceasars, the Flamingo, Ballys, Harrahs, or Planet Hollywood.

Also, can I ask why you even need a rental car? The taxi service is great in Vegas. a minivan taxi to and from the strip is likley less than the cost of rental car.

The kids will love the pools at Mandalay Bay. You can take the monorail to the other hotels.

I second the recommendation for two adjoining rooms rather than a suite. 2/3-bedroom suites that can accommodate 6 people are rare and rather expensive at the various center strip hotel-casinos. As noted, there are timeshares and other places off strip that may have two-bedroom suites that may be affordable.

Bear in mind that most strip casinos are going to frown on the idea of a bunch of kids sprawled out on the couches and on the floor in the standard 1-bedroom suite. They'll usually limit you to 4 people in the room, unless you try to sneak the kids in, which is certainly possible. I was in Vegas for a bachelor party where we had 12 guys in a single room, though we were only there to crash for a few hours before our plane left.

If you hope not to use the car, then you really want to be center strip - that means: Bellagio, Caesars, Mirage, Treasure Island, Planet Hollywood, Paris, Ballys, Flamingo. MGM would work too, given the monorail station.

How old are your kids and what sort of "cool" places were you hoping to check out?

We normally stay at the Grandview on Las Vegas Blvd, S (near the South Point Hotel and Casino) which is timeshare property and I believe that they rent to non-timshare owners....for 6 people you would get a double condo which is nice to have a kitchen....or two.

The nice thing about being a little ways off of the main strip is that the traffic is not so crazy!

We stay at the Marriott - ALOT! It is one of the few hotel chains that I can guarentee enough space and beds for us all and after long days of driving and seeing sights - we need our own spaces!

We are starting our vacation in San Antonio, Texas and ending in Las Vegas - so that is why we will have a rental.

We will not be cramming 6 people into a 4 person room! Not for us, we need beds for 6 and seperate rooms if at all possible!

The girls are 17, 15, 13, & 10.

Will I have to call the hotels to book adjoining rooms? I prefer the internet route, that way I can keep pricing and looking for deals that come up. Or maybe I should use my TA for this one.

Another questions then - what is the one hotel that your should not miss seeing while in Vegas?

Your kids are lucky! When we traveled with all 5 of our (4 boys, 1 girl) we had them camping all over the room. We got a bed, the 2 youngest boys got a bed, the 2 oldest boys slept on a pull out couch and my daughter periodically ended up in the closet so she could get a little peace.
They all got to a point where they would not share bedding so we just started letting them figure it out themselves.

Oh, meant to say that I stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations next to the Sahara on my last trip to Las Vegas. It was a huge suite with a giant kitchen and I think there was another room that could be added on.
Nice place. No gaming.

We had adjoining rooms at the Monte Carlo. The pool is great for kids. It's been several years, but the hotel was very nice - although they recently had a fire.

I have 4 children as well - and also like for them all to "have" a bed - it makes for better travel experience for everyone imo. Hotels will generally not confirm an adjoining room and things have gotten dicey for us before.

On our last trip to Cabo - (booked through a T.A.) we thought we had them..but nope - and we ended up not being able to get them - and the boys had their own room and it was NOT exactly next door. Boy were they happy (I think they were around 16 and 14 at the time) - I hated it - not so much them in their own room but I enjoy the aspect of us all being together.

look up the Marriott Chatueu (something like that) you can book it directly online. If you do the two bedroom - everyone will have their own bed (there will be sharing of beds though).

There is a king in the master, full kitchen, sofa bed - in the other bedroom two doubles - and another sofa bed!

We liked the location. I think I have stayed there 3 times now. First two no issues with the construction. Last year was HORRIBLE. They started jack hammering outside my room around 3:00 am (not kidding RIGHT outside my room). It was a nightmare.

We stayed with our kids at Mandalay Bay. We had a "suite", (which is really just a more spacious room, with a refrigerator) and they were in the adjoining room. The pool area there is great for kids.

Some relatives once stayed in the Residence Inn by Marriott near the Convention Center, and that was pretty spacious too.

I really do not have a budget - it is too hard to set one with so many people and it all depends on where you are in the country and which country! We just finished travelling Canada the last 2 summers - West in 2006 and East in 2007. Now that is an eye opener - Canada is very expensive to travel in, I paid over $300 a night in some spots last summer!

We will staying the night of July 4 - is it going to be busier than usual??

No budget? Ah, then you can go for better options.

At around $1000-$3000 per night, you could get a: two-bedroom villa at the Wynn; or a two-bedroom suite at the MGM Skylofts; or, a two-bedroom suite at the MGM Signature.

The Skylofts would be great since you could use the house limo to get around. ;)

If you do end up getting a couple of 1 bedroom suites, you can also ask for rollaway beds. That way nobody has to share.

I have a friend who stayed in the villas in the back of the Bellago. The photos she shared with me were really nice. It would be perfect for a family with not budget. You even have your swimming pool.

Do the research on packages, etc. on the internet then call the hotel directly to book. they should quote you the same price, but if, not, just say I saw x-price on x-website.
