Las Vegas Hotel

I am planning to stay at Encore in July. Has anyone stayed there recently? I am now undecided because I stayed at the Wynn the last time I was there & loved it. I still have time to switch my reservation. I heard the rooms are nicer at Encore.

ksucat Jun 17th, 2010 03:08 PM

I hear it is just like the Wynn..which is a stunning property but newer.
Did you get a good rate?
We have stayed many times at the Wynn and when you get a room rate of around $100 for a 5* resort, with outstanding restaurants and pool, I don't think anywhere on the strip or elsewhere in the US can match it.

Howie Jun 18th, 2010 04:57 AM

It was the same rate as the Wynn (which was good). I just felt that because it was a new hotel, it might be better. I know the rooms are larger.

Many people report huge problems with noise coming from the night clubs in both hotels, Encore and Wynn, even on very high floors. They have a new outdoor beach club at Encore which made things even worse.

coldplay Jun 21st, 2010 03:33 PM

We had a problem with noise at Encore, the night clubs are so loud you can hear them into the early hours, can't imagine what it will be like now with the new Beach Club. We will not return to Encore or Wynn.

djkbooks Jun 21st, 2010 09:55 PM

We stayed on a high floor at Wynn and experienced no noise problems whatsoever. Our room at Wynn was enormous, and we just loved the place! I doubt it would have been worth the extra walk to stay at Encore.

Dukey Jun 22nd, 2010 02:52 AM

We stayed at the Encore recently and had no noise issues whatsoever. The rooms are basically larger than the ones at the Wynn. Some people complain that both these hotels are not ideally located on the Strip and that they are "too far to walk anywhere"..some complain they are too far from each other (I see these comments on TripAdvisor all the time).

Problem is, some of the people we recently saw in LV NEEDED a few walks.

I think you've made the right choice and besides, how will you KNOW for sure unless YOU stay there? Nobody else's experience is as good as your own IMO even if it is a bad one..at least you know why.

KarenE Jun 22nd, 2010 09:09 AM

It all depends on the nights you are staying. If the night clubs are opened you WILL have noise.

So this may be helpfull (I hope):

Tryst nightclub(south/strip side of the Wynn Tower) is OPENED on Thursday through Sunday nights.

XS nightclub which faces the north side of the Wynn tower and the strip side of Encore is OPENED Friday through Monday

The new (opened end of May 2010) Encore Beach Club is OPENED seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 p.m. to closing. This one causes noise on the strip side of Encore and the north (golf course) side of Wynn.

Surrender Nightclub (also new, belongs to the Beach Club) is OPENED Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to closing.
(noise issues same as for the Beach Club)

ksucat Jun 22nd, 2010 10:20 AM

we've stayed up and down the Wynn hotel and NEVER EVER heard any club noise.
stayed 7 times with the clubs going on and you couldn't hear it at all.
we have not stayed at Encore but knowing how Steve designs his hotels/resorts, he would never accept noise spilling into the rooms that are 35 floors up.
How can that be when the hotel windows are sealed up?
You are making a false accusations and this is not right!
You are saying that the club noise on the first floor is making its way up 35+ floors and disturbing your sleep...BS!

Boxer Jun 22nd, 2010 10:44 AM

Stayed at Wynn in 2008 ... 34th floor ... overlooking the Lake of Dreams ... VERY loud music WELL into the early morning ...

I wear earplugs but could still "feel" the thumping music ...

Liked the hotel other than that ... but because of that, won't go back.

It ain't B.S.

ksucat Jun 22nd, 2010 10:56 AM

I've stayed several times overlooking the 'lake of dreams' and never ever heard any music at all.
the show was going on which we usually see when dining at DB's. and some club that we don't go to but never heard of any music thumping till late in the evening/early morning and I'm sure that Steve would of comped your room or moved you if you brought it to the attention of the staff.
he is one of the greatest guys around!

ksucat-I absolutely love the Wynn and will stay there again but I also heard the thumping of the music from the high floors. The first time I stayed there I was around the 20th floor and not only could I hear the thumping but I could hear the words of the songs until about 2am. This was on a weekend night. During the week no problem. Next time I stayed there I asked for a high floor and was on the 35th floor facing away from the nightclub. Could hear the thumping as Boxer described, again on a weekend night.

I was staying at the Wynn to do a convention but despite the noise I would still choose the hotel over just about any other on the strip. However, you absolutely hear the nightclubs.

some complain they are too far from each other

So how far is it from Encore to Wynn? We're staying at Encore in August and will need to walk to Wynn one night for a fancy dinner at Alex, probably dressed up (maybe even wearing a suit). Couple hundred yards won't cause overheating but half-a-mile will probably be too hot wearing the monkey suit.

How far? Probably still time to change the reservation if need be.

paula1470 Jun 22nd, 2010 02:06 PM

You don't have to go outside. There is a shopping area that connects the two.

I was looking on tripadvisor and some people were complaining about the club noise at the Encore. They said they heard the Beach Club all the way up to the 61st floor! Maybe try to get your room on the other side of the hotel.

lcuy Jun 22nd, 2010 02:38 PM

From the Encore to the Wynn is about a three minute walk down a hallway. There are a few shops, so the window shopping might cause you to take 5 minutes!

I've stayed at both hotels several times and never noticed any noise or thumping.

paula1470 Jun 22nd, 2010 02:49 PM

The noise issue probably depends on what night of the week you are there and also which way your room faces.

KarenE Jun 22nd, 2010 08:27 PM

Go to www.tripadvisor.com and type in "Encore club noise" and "Wynn club noise". You will get tons of complaints.

I just read thru some of those ... sounds like the new poolside nightclub that opened around Memorial Day is causing a lot of problems at Encore for anyone with southside views who wants to sleep between 11 PM and 4 AM.

I think we'll call tomorrow and see if they can guarantee a quiet north-facing room. If not we'll cancel.

Jessmk Jun 23rd, 2010 02:22 PM

IMO rooms are much nicer at Encore. Stayed both at the Wynn twice & Encore once and if I had to go again (Which I probably will) I will definitely choose Encore. Just take into account that you'll be spending more time walking... but its not that bad.

Bill_H Aug 28th, 2010 01:16 PM

This thread is a couple months old but since we just returned from a stay at Encore I'll update it anyway.

After reading the tripadvisor posts back in June I called Encore, thinking maybe I should cancel, and was told a) the noise problems were greatly exaggerated and b) but since I claimed to be sensitive to noise they would make a note on my form to be sure to put me in a quieter room.

When we got there I mentioned this again and the clerk said that for a small fee ($50 for 2 nights) she could put us on the 62nd floor in a room with a 'panoramic view' that would be quiet. Like dummies we went along with this. We had room 6246, overlooking the pool areas with nice views of Wynn and the golf course as well.

First night was fine (the pool clubs were closed) but sure enough, the 2nd night you could clearly hear the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa of the disco beat, even from the 62nd floor. You could actually feel the vibrations if you stood at the window.

We could mask the noise by turning the fan blower on 'high', which is what we did to sleep. Wasn't worth complaining since we were just there a few more hours and didn't want to move to the other side of the hallway late at night.

Certainly this is a beautiful hotel, but I wouldn't stay there again. Even after a phone call asking specifically about the noise, and even after bringing it up again at check-in and getting up-sold to the tune of $50 for a quieter room we still had a problem (albeit easy enough to mask over from that high up). Can't imagine what the people on the lower floors were hearing.

Boogles the mind that they would design a hotel like this and then inconvience the guests staying in half the rooms (the rooms overlooking the pools) because they want to make money with an outdoor disco until 4:30 AM.

We just returned from a week in Las Vegas, staying the last three nights at the Wynn. I couldn't agree more with the noise problem. We started on the 31st floor facing the strip. We heard the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa so loud that the fan couldn't even cover it. We complained the next morning and were told that nobody else has complained and they didn't know what the big deal was. After waiting all day, until 5pm for a room change, I finally called the front desk and was told that my account had been "messaged" at 4 with a new room. My husband called the desk again after realizing that the "new" room was only two floors up on the same side, above the same club. Finally, after my husband had a lenghty discussion with the manager, we moved to the 59th floor, facing the golf course. It was not far enough away, we heard the noise again all night from the club on the back side of the hotel. Luckily, the fan noise drowned out most of it. We made it through the last two nights and had to get up at 4am to catch a flight home. We didn't realize that the clubs, all of them, close at 4 so the taxi stand line had about 200 very intoxicated young people in it. When I approached the first valet, telling him that we had to catch a plane, he just pointed to the line of people and said, "The line is over there. You can get a town car if you want to for $65. The line isn't as long for those." I approached the town car valet, who looked at us and immediately took us to the front of the taxi line. Thank goodness because we would have missed our flight otherwise.
Bottom Line: This hotel should not be rated a 5 star because it doesn't care about the guests, just the nightclub attendees. I will NEVER stay there again!

chocaholic Aug 22nd, 2012 07:25 PM

I was going to stay there during my visit. But cancelled because I decided to stay in Aria!

Aria was nice and quiet. There are only 2 complaints I have (1) because of the design of the room the ceiling to floor window that jets out of the ceiling, their curtains did not keep the day light out in the morning. (2) Their room was a tad small.
