what can you tell us, thinking of booking. For instance, I know its slightly off the strip but does the little trolley go past the hotel making it easy to get to main strip? Whats the rooms like would you have any recommendations for floor/room to ask for for best views, etc.<BR><BR>We are not big gamblers (going for sights on a stopver)what is the Hilton LV Casino like, we would defitely prefer something more conservative than waitresses walking around in silly and very revealing fancy dress?<BR><BR>Have you any bad experiences of this hotel? We were thinking of booking the Nemisis Experience, its only $105 per room per night and includes Star Trek EX. Thank You

IMHO, The Hilton is overwhelming--big,that is.Way too many people.Conventioneers,trekkies,whatever.Stifling to me.And if you want conservative waitresses,just keep going till you get to Utah!! Its all part of the Vegas experience.

If you're not that into gambling and want to sightsee on the strip... STAY ON THE STRIP!<BR><BR>Stay someplace center strip... if the LV Hilton is within your budget i'd imagine the Flamingo Hilton, Harrah's, or Bally's would be around the same price. If those are to expensive, you could always &quot;settle&quot; on the Imprerial Palace (not the greatest place but great location) OR the Barbary Coast (which doesn't have a pool, may or not be a factor for you). All of these mentioned have AWESOME location and i think would be a better choice than the LV Hilton.

it is not really &quot;off&quot; the strip like other hotels are. For instance the Rio suites is 3/4 mile away. Hilton is within walking distance (like maybe 3 minutes!) of Balleys and Paris. all the rooms are nice and new. But be advised!!! You will be HOUNDED by &quot;Hilton Grand Vacations Club&quot; timeshare people at Hilton. they'll offer you anything to get you to sign on the dotted line.

I think flopmeister is thinking of the Flamingo not the LV Hilton for walking distances. The LV Hilton is near the convention center which is very inconvient (sp) for sightseeing. Take the advice of others and stay on the stip or you will really feel secluded and cabbing everywhere.<BR><BR>Wendy

Sorry flopmeister, but the Las Vegas Hilton is not within walking distance of anything, except maybe the Riviera, and that is a long walk up Convention Center Drive. I think that you are referring to the Flamingo, which was once known as the Flamingo Hilton.<BR><BR>The Las Vegas Hilton has two casinos, one is the main casino which has typical decor, with crystal chandeliers, lots of mirrors, and no particular theme. The other is space-themed and has been failing miserably since it opened.<BR><BR>Unless you are a Star Trek freak, the Star Trek experience is overpriced and overrated IMHO. It's certainly not a reason to choose to stay at the Hilton. The Hilton is best known for its proximity to the Las Vegas Convention Center and holds no other particular attraction. Although they have a rather large sports book with many giant screens. A sports fan might enjoy spending time there.<BR><BR>Rooms are typical &quot;Hilton&quot; meaning you know exactly what to expect. They are not fancy, but are clean with all of the normal amenities one would find at a Hilton.<BR><BR>Just curious Lynn, what difference does it make what the cocktail waitresses are wearing? Would that really sway your decision on where to stay? If so, now I've heard it all.<BR><BR>At any rate, if you intend to spend much time on the strip taking in the sights, I suggest you stay on the strip and not at the Hilton.<BR><BR>Hope this helps.

If you're &quot;going for sights on a stopover&quot;, the Las Vegas Hilton is a terrible choice. It's not near the strip, it's not downtown, you won't see a thing, except the Las Vegas Hilton.<BR><BR>If you want to see the sights, stay center strip. There are plenty of good choices, which other posters have listed. (My recommendations would be Flamingo, Mirage, or Monte Carlo; also heard you can sometimes get good deals at Aladdin, which is quite new.)<BR><BR>Quite frankly, I can't think of a casino in Las Vegas where the cocktail waitresses don't walk around in silly outfits. I'm as offended as the next woman about this, but not enough to let it ruin my fun! Quite frankly, I pay so little attention to this, I couldn't tell you which place has better/worse outfits.<BR><BR>

Forgot to mention, the trolley DOES go by the LV Hilton. The trolley is quaint, but it is VERY slow (makes lots of stops) and VERY uncomfortable. I've ridden it once or twice, but I would never want to rely on it to get me anywhere in a timely fashion.

Across from the Convention Center is a couiple of Mariott's. No need to worry about skimpy waitresses because there is NO casino. Not even a slot machine by the elevators. Nice size rooms, landscaping and a good size pool. Just like any other marriott you've ever stayed at. Not sure about public transportation to the strip, but a cab wouldn't be much.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. Yes, I'm thinking not of the LV Hilton, which is indeed a far distance from the strip, but the Hilton behind the Flamingo, the one where you can't shake a stick without hitting a timeshare salesperson.<BR><BR>And, Yeah -- WHAT difference could it possibly make WHAT the cocktail waitresses are wearing (or not wearing).

thanks for replies, no it won't sway my decision but I would prefer classy to tacky thats all, maybe we should stay at Bellagio a little more upmarket maybe.

If you can get a rate at Bellagio that is acceptable to you, I think that would be a perfect choice. Great location, classy hotel, and I love the dancing fountains out front.
