Las Vegas-Hard Rock Hotel
 

Going to Vegas with daughter for her 21st birthday. Is Hard Rock a good choice? How far is it exactly from the strip? how long in walking time?

Ellie, <BR>The Hard Rock is a good choice for a 21 year old. Nice pool, fun theme, and you never know who you might be sitting next to whil playing blackjack. However, it is not on the strip, and I really wouldn't say that it is within reasonable walking distance. There are shuttle buses back and forth between the Hard Rock and various hotels on the strip, but if this is your first time in Vegas, I would recommend a hotel on the strip and visit the Hard Rock. What is it that you are looking for in a hotel? Have you been to LV before? <BR>Hard Rock is a unique hotel with a more laid back, slick feel than others. Youngish travellers flock to it. <BR>The walk to the strip is just over a mile. If it's hot, it's not a pleasant stroll. <BR>Are you on a budget? Do you gamble? <BR>Hard to suggest what might 'fit' your goals without additional info.

My husband and I have been to Vegas before. In fact we leave in a couple of weeks for our third trip there (just the two of us). Just trying to find a place where other people my daughter's age might be at. Since it is her 21st birthday and all, would like somewhere fun for her. Yes, we gamble and would prefer not to spend over 200 per night for a room as we prefer to spend money eating well! Thanks for any help.

I would stay closer to the strip so your daughter can easily go to different attractions and casinos. The Hard Rock is cool but I do in a very hip, lots of black clothing and sunglasses kind of style. It depends on what your daughter likes. The Hard Rock has a very LA kind of feel. Not bad per say--but it is really fun to be able to walk around and see lots of casinos on the strip. <BR> <BR>You can find good hotel rates on lasvegas.com. I go frequently and always find the best deals there. Try Bellagio and Paris.

Given the additional background you've provided, I think the Hard Rock would still be on the list of places to consider, and your daughter would probably have a good time. Getting to the Strip will still be a little inconvenient. <BR>Personally, I'd recommend checking on Mandalay Bay. It's got a lot going for it for both the younger and older crowds, and if you check around, you can usually find rates in the range you seek. The pool is great. Casino has a wide-open feel. Rooms are good. Lots of interesting food options. On the strip, but way south. <BR>Check it out when you're there, see what you think.

On our lst trip to Vegas we hit the Mandalay Bay. It is a beautiful hotel. We noticed that they have the House of Blues and another huge trendy club. The line was full of the young crowd. I would stay on the strip and visit the Hard Rock. I hear plenty of bragging about the Mandalay pool.

I agree with everyone else here: <BR> <BR>The HardRock is nice, BUT too far away from the strip. <BR> <BR>Choose somewhere right on it! The other alternative would be either walking (and being tired by the time you get on the strip) or you drive and go through the HASSLE of parking (what I did my first time for not staying on the strip) <BR> <BR>Your best options to stay on the strip: (In order from N to S) <BR> <BR>Circus Circus, Riviera, Stardust, Frontier, Desert Inn, Treasure Island, Venetian, Mirage, Harrahs, Ceasars Palace, Flamingo, Barbary Coast, Bellagio, Ballys, Holiday Inn Boardwalk, Monte Carlo, NY NY, MGM Grand, Excalibur, Tropicana, Luxor, and Mandalay. <BR> <BR>In all honesty the "better" ones are starting at Ceasar's / Paris / Bellagio and make your way down south... the latest sensations are the Mandalay and Paris... plan accordingly! <BR>
